Flood was nominated for two Daytime Emmys for playing EDGE’s Nancy.

Ann Flood Has Passed Away

The information about Flood’s passing was posted on social media by Sharon Gabet, who played Raven on EDGE. The actress’s message began, “With deep grief,” and stated, “I just learned yesterday that our beautiful ANN FLOOD died away on October 7.”

She is now reunited with her 61-year-old husband and the re

She is now in heaven with her husband of 61 years, along with the rest of my favorite cast members, Gabet continued. What a PARTY they must all be having, and what an FABULOUS LIFE she had! It just seems impossible… How appropriate that we are currently sharing deleted scenes from The Bryson Clinic, one of Ann’s best storylines, on Facebook.

The website of the New Canaanite published Flood’s obituary. Maryanne Elizabeth Ott was Flood’s given name when she was born on November 12, 1932, in Jamaica, New York. Anna (Flood) and Frank Ott were her parents. She relocated to New York City after graduating from Bay Shore High School to pursue her acting dream. She settled on the name “Ann Flood,” adopting the maiden name of her mother.

From Broadway to Monticello

In 1954, Flood made her Broadway debut in Kismet. She later co-starred with Don Ameche in Holiday for Lovers. However, Flood found her greatest career success in the world of soap operas. Flood was cast as Nancy Pollock on EDGE in 1962, and her persona later wed Mike Karr (Forrester Compton). Since EDGE was a mystery/crime-based serial, Nancy was frequently in the middle of the action as a journalist.

In the years 1982 and 1984, she received two Daytime Emmy nominations in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Flood remained an EDGE cast member right up until the December 28, 1984, series conclusion. Nancy was on Mike’s side in Flood’s final scene as he quickly dialed a number.

Nancy was imprisoned in a clinic as part of the Bryson Clinic plot Gabet said. Nancy had discovered certain unlawful activities. Dr. Kenneth Bryson (James Hawthorne), a misguided plastic surgeon, his wife Beth (Doris Belak), a nurse, and hired thug Sharkey (Chris Goutman) assisted criminals in assuming new identities and faces. In a disturbing turn of events, Dr. Bryson intended to operate on Nancy’s face so that nobody would identify her or accept her account.

Ann Flood — After EDGE

Flood continued to appear in soap operas after the end of EDGE. In 1992, she portrayed Bitsy Davidson on All My Children, Ella Hobbs on Search for Tomorrow, Rose Livingston on Another World, Ruth Mansfield on As the World Turns, and Ella Hobbs on Search for Tomorrow. Other works by Flood include the movies Mystic Pizza and a Cosby Show episode. From These Roots was her very first soap show. In 1974, she made an appearance as a presenter at the inaugural Daytime Emmy Awards.

Herb Granath, a media executive who had been married to Flood for 61 years, passed away before her in 2019. She is survived by her brothers Sandy Ott of Bay Shore, New York, and Kevin Granath (Danielle), as well as her four children.

Nicole, Caroline, Will, Terence, Gavin, Farrell, Benjamin, Amanda, Leigh, Jane, and Nolan are among their 11 devoted grandchildren. Peter Granath (Elizabeth), Karen Charlton (Michael), and Karen Charlton (Kathleen) are also present.

Please think about making a donation to one of the following organizations, or one of your own choosing, in lieu of sending flowers: Susan G. Komen for the Cure or the Wounded Warrior Project.

In extending Flood’s family and loved ones our sincere condolences during this trying time, Soap Hub joins EDGE fans.
