In Coronation Street, Tina O’Brien’s character Sarah Platt is about to have the rug pulled out from under her because she realizes her uncle Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) isn’t as blameless as she thought.

It was discovered shortly after Stephen arrived back in Weatherfield that he was preparing to steal Audrey’s (Sue Nicholls) money. He wanted to use her equity release funds as one of the means to accomplish this.

Stephen was able to obtain some of Audrey’s money with a little assistance from Gabrielle (Helene Maksoud), but not all of it because Audrey decided to spend some of it to pay for a vacation for her and Sam (Jude Riordan).

In following episodes, Audrey sends a statement from an equity release business to Gail (Helen Worth), who then shows it to Sarah, who wonders whether it has anything to do with the estate agent visit Audrey had that Stephen had arranged. This action comes back to haunt Stephen.

Stephen reveals to Carla (Alison King) that Sarah and Michael (Ryan Russell) are thinking about buying the Nippersnapper company outright after Angelique breaks the news that she won’t be renewing the Nippersnapper arrangement.

Later on in the week, Sarah overhears Stephen and Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) discussing the Rovers’ strategy while on the phone.

Sarah follows Stephen, thinking he’s talking to Angelique about Nippersnapper, and finds him at the hotel.

Sarah confronts her uncle, threatening to report him to the police since she thinks he’s about to swindle her out of the agreement. But what will Stephen say?

Is he poised to escape justice for three murders while serving time for a shady business deal?

Todd Boyce considered if Tim was a threat to Stephen and said:

Although he has no intention of hurting Tim, I doubt Stephen would jump to his aid if Tim were to be run over. Tim is, however, kind of putting himself in the most hazardous position by getting too involved in Stephen’s life, as other people who have been in Tim’s position are no longer with us. Tim is treading carefully.
