There is a spoiler alert for the Thursday, February 8, 2024, episode that can be found on BBC iPlayer.

In the most recent episode of EastEnders, one character made a rather unsettling return.

When much-anticipated Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) returned, he was shocked to discover his mother Linda (Kellie Bright) inebriated on the ground!

Following yet another tumultuous week, murderer Linda made a firm vow to her mother Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) that she would give up alcohol permanently.

When Linda ran into Alfie in the Square, she apologized for her hurtful remark regarding their kiss. They had a good conversation as they said their goodbyes before Alfie left, but it was awkward when he ducked her hug.

Linda seemed to lose it when she saw this and went to the Minute Mart to purchase some wine bottles.

Upon meeting Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) with her young daughter Annie, the sobering alcoholic realized Linda was having difficulties and offered to take care of her half-sister Annie.

Gillian Taylforth’s character Kathy Cotton paid Linda a visit back at The Vic. The conversation surrounding Karen Taylor’s (Lorraine Stanley) exit took a sharp turn when Kathy confronted Linda about her alcohol consumption and her near-confession to Keanu’s (Danny Walters) murder.

Reminding Linda of how little family she still had in Walford, Kathy became irrationally harsh, cautioning her not to ruin the lives of all the women.

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), Kathy’s son, and his spouse Callum Highway (Tony Clay) were taken aback when they saw Kathy and Linda’s fight spill into the bar.

Linda slapped Kathy when she pointed out that she was the only one who had done anything wrong on Christmas Day—right before Lauren and Annie entered!

Lauren offered to watch the kids for the evening as Kathy and Lauren sat down to talk Linda into going to bed and getting sober. However, Linda’s rage persisted, and she hurried outside to look for Elaine.

Nevertheless, she ended up drinking at The Albert, where she puked and turned down Felix Baker’s (Matthew Morrison) offer of assistance.

Linda was seen on the ground outside the club, having difficulty standing up. Johnny showed up, looking well dressed and shocked to see his mother in this kind of state. Is he able to assist Linda?

Charlie Suff, an actor who has assumed the role of Johnny, recently shared details about how his alter ego handles Linda’s problems and how Johnny has evolved without him.
