Lauren Bolton’s disappearance has taken centre stage in one of Coronation Street most gripping storylines and fans of the ITV soap finally know what happened to the youngster
Coronation Street have finally revealed what really happened to Lauren Bolton on the night of her disappearance.
The troubled youngster (played by Cait Fitton) has been missing since February and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) has since been put behind bars accused of killing the teenager.
Earlier this week, Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) found Lauren’s necklace in Joel Deering’s (Callum Lill) silver Mercedes while helping out at the Little Big Shotz charity car wash.
Despite originally wanting to keep the jewellery, Hope returned the necklace to Joel during Thursday’s (May 30) dramatic episode and a dramatic flashback clip played out just before the end credits showing Joel hitting Lauren over the head with a leg of a chair and taking the necklace before fleeing the scene.
After tuning into the latest instalment of the ITV soap, taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “That was Joel’s fashback!! #Corrie” as another agreed: “It’s definitely Joel!! #Corrie”
A third echoed: “…and the killer is Joel. Knew he was dodgy from the get-go #Corrie” as a fourth chimed in with: “ITS JOEL!!! It has to be #corrie.”
Joel has been one of the main suspects amongst viewers in the mystery of Lauren’s disappearance for weeks. In a recent scene, a receipt for expensive jewellery was found which Joel said was for a pair of cufflinks.
But could it be the mysterious necklace Lauren got from her boyfriend before she died? At the time, one fan said on X: “No one spends £300 on cufflinks.”
Another added: “£300 on cufflinks?” whilst a third shared: “Diamond cuff links for £300, you’ll be lucky.” A third wondered why Joel had so much money to spare – but was working at a small solicitors.
They wrote: “Why is Joel hanging around back street solicitors when he can drop £300 on cufflinks?” So could there be an ulterior motive to him being in Weatherfield after all?
In upcoming scenes, Coronation Street spoilers have confirmed that Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) assures his solicitor Joel that he’s innocent and suspects Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) planted Lauren’s hair.
In a bid to gather more evidence against Nathan, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) call Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) and beg her to put them in touch with Ellie as they suspect she has vital information.
Ellie describes to Bethany how she had a client who showered her with gifts and became more of a boyfriend, but suddenly turned nasty and threatened to kill her. When Bethany shows her a photo of Nathan, will Ellie confirm it was Nathan and will this lead to groomer Nathan therefore be blamed for Lauren’s “death” and not Joel?
