The mystery behind Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) sudden influx of money has been unveiled on Emmerdale, and it could spell trouble for his family.
As ITV soap fans know, Billy’s wife, Dawn (Olivia Bromley), grew suspicious after discovering a stack of cash in their new home at Holdgate Farm.
Thinking quickly, Billy concocted a lie, explaining the money was part of a “surprise savings fund,” which Dawn thankfully accepted.
In tonight’s episode, Dawn was preoccupied with the exciting news that their son Evan, who has been battling leukaemia and undergoing treatment in the hospital for months, could finally come home for a short stay.
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) then stopped by and informed Billy that he’d found a car in Bradford and suggested he should act fast to secure it.
However, it appears Billy had something else up his sleeve…
Later in the episode, an angry Dawn was seen standing outside Holdgate, prepared to go to the hospital, but Billy was nowhere in sight.
Fortunately, Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) drove by and offered her a ride. During their conversation, Dawn shared her worries about Evan’s health and whether Billy could handle the demanding weeks ahead.
Meanwhile, back in the village, Mack spotted Billy collapsing against the side of the hall, with his face covered in blood and a deep wound on his side.
Mack dragged Billy into Jacob’s Fold, staining Charity’s pristine white sofa in the process, and urged him to get proper medical attention for his injuries.
However, Billy refused, adamant that no professionals should be involved, as he revealed he’d been fighting at an illegal underground boxing club.
Former army medic John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) was called in to help, dressing the wound on Billy’s stomach. John sternly warned him that participating in another fight could be fatal.
Later, Billy returned home and made up a story about getting delayed at a Boxercise class, apologizing to Dawn.
Once she left to tend to Evan, Billy received a phone call offering him another fight next week—with double the payout.
