Jacqueline Pirie, known for her role as Tina Dingle in Emmerdale, surprised fans by revealing her actual age. Although a quick Google search lists her as 49, she shared photos from her 50th birthday celebration, leaving fans stunned.

Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, the actress-turned-author responded to a fan’s comment on her birthday post, saying, “You shouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet!”

The Scottish star gained fame for her role as the bold and clever Tina Dingle in the long-running ITV soap Emmerdale.

Tina, the daughter of Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) and Nellie Dingle (Sandra Gough), made her debut in the village in December 1994. Two years later, she transitioned to Coronation Street.

During her time on Coronation Street, Jacqueline became known for playing factory worker Linda Sykes, especially for her infamous affair with Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs).

She left the soap in 2001, relocating to Canada to pursue a career as an author. That same year, she married Simon Chadwick, adopting his surname.

While there’s no official confirmation of their split, her new X profile describes her as “Joyfully Single,” with recent posts hashtagging her as a mother of one and grandmother.

Her age revelation comes amid an emotional week on Emmerdale, as the Dingle family prepares to bid farewell to Zak Dingle.

Zak died off screen after the tragic real life death of actor Steve Halliwell in December last year at the age of 77.

The character’s death was confirmed in an emotional scene on Monday (October 14).

Fans were left heartbroken and in tears following the death of the beloved soap icon Zak Dingle.

One viewer shared their emotions on X: “Watching tonight’s @emmerdale, oh my God, so emotional. I can’t stop crying. I didn’t see this coming… @ITVX #emmerdale.”

Another wrote: “Jeff Hordley as Cain handled it beautifully, breaking the sad news of Zak Dingle’s passing. Rest in peace, Steve Halliwell. #emmerdale @emmerdale.”

A third fan reached out directly to Jacqueline on X, saying: “Your screen dad passed away tonight.”

Since leaving acting, Jacqueline has built a reputation as a successful author, publishing three acclaimed thrillers—In The Still, Briefly Maiden, and Silent Sisters—with Fahrenheit Press. Each novel follows Ali Dalglish, a former forensic psychologist turned housewife, who becomes entangled in complex murder investigations.
