EastEnders fans are ‘convinced’ they’ve solved the mystery of who killed Harry Mitchell’s ex, thanks to a revelation from Jack Branning in Tuesday’s episode of the BBC One soap (October 22).

During the latest episode set in the Square, officer Jack (Scott Maslen) revealed information about Harry’s (Elijah Holloway) past to his daughter Penny (Kitty Castledine) before he moved to Walford.

After conducting some investigation, Jack confirmed that Harry had been accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend following a public altercation. Shereen vanished after the argument and was presumed dead, although Harry was never formally charged.

Harry, clearly infatuated, readily proclaimed his innocence to Penny, detailing the ups and downs of his tumultuous relationship with Shereen and mentioning how they both “gave as good as they got,” hinting at their volatile history.

Penny believed Harry’s version of events as they conspired to take down Jack, who had publicly assaulted Harry and failed to support Penny during the club crush incident.

As regular viewers of the ITV soap will remember, Harry arrived in the Square over the summer with his younger brother, Barney (Lewis Bridgeman), and their father, Harry (Roland Manookian), according to reports from the Manchester Evening News.

The trio has hinted at their troubled past and that they are fleeing from someone, though the details remain murky.

Now, EastEnders fans are speculating that Harry’s mother might be the one responsible for Shereen’s death. The upcoming arrival of Harry’s ex-wife, Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), in Walford is fueling rumors that she may be connected to her son’s shady history.

One telly fan took to X and said: “Harry’s mother did (kill her) I’d say #EastEnders”, while another commented: “Harry is covering for his mother #EastEnders.”

Another viewer shared: “Harry’s mother killed his girlfriend that’s why they ran that’s why they’ve been on edge #EastEnders.”

One fan theorised: “After today’s EP why do I feel like Teddy has something to do with Harry’s GF disappearance???”
