Emmerdale fans have voiced their frustration over what they perceive as a ‘blunder’ following the recasting of Tina Dingle.
Tina (Samantha Power) made a dramatic comeback to the Dales last week to attend the funeral of her father, Zak (Steve Halliwell), who sadly died off-screen and was brought back from Scotland to the village.
Tina was last seen in the Dales back in 1996, when she was played by Jacqueline Pirie. However, following the news of Zak’s death, Tina made her return last week, creating quite a stir at the funeral.
The Dingles quickly found themselves in turmoil as Tina started hurling insults at the family, overshadowing Zak’s farewell. She even audaciously attempted to assert her claim on the family home.
Eventually, Tina—who was wearing an electronic tag—was taken away by the police. However, she made her return to the village in the episode on October 21. In a surprising twist, it was revealed that she is actually the biological mother of Vinny (Bradley Johnson), who was adopted by Mandy (Lise Riley).
Mandy has raised Vinny for most of his life after beginning a relationship with his father, Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale). Over the years, Mandy has considered Vinny her son, and he has always seen her as his mother.
However, fans were far from pleased with this shocking revelation. Viewers expressed outrage, noting that there had previously been hints of a possible romance between Vinny and Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
In a stunning twist that has left Emmerdale fans reeling, it was revealed that Tina, Belle’s sister, is actually Vinny’s mother, making Belle his aunt. This bombshell has prompted fans to take to social media, criticizing Mandy for remaining silent about the situation despite knowing their familial connection.
One fan expressed their frustration on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, saying, “All that flirting, all that chemistry, all those accusations about Belle and Vinny sleeping together, and not once did Mandy panic or react the way she did when Tina showed up. This storyline feels rushed and like it was made up on the spot.”
The sentiment resonated with many viewers, as others joined in to share their thoughts. One person concurred, commenting, “You make a good point; I never thought of that! I think the writers forgot…” Another viewer stated, “I agree with you; she should have been worried about them starting a relationship.”
Echoing this frustration, another fan added, “Totally agree—once again, it’s poor scriptwriting.”
