In the latest episode of Emmerdale, a new character pledged to expose Tom King as he continued to torment Belle Dingle.
Before Nicola King could uncover the truth about the abuser, another character stepped up to support Belle during Wednesday night’s episode. DS Foy addressed Belle after she was caught violating her bail conditions, urging her to be careful, or she risked ending up in prison.
DS Foy arrived in the village after Tom was attacked and nearly died. Initially, Belle claimed she knew nothing about the incident, but she later turned herself in to the police, admitting that she had attacked Tom with an axe.
She explained that it was an act of self-defense and revealed that she had been a victim of domestic violence at Tom’s hands. He had coerced, manipulated, and isolated her from her loved ones for months, becoming increasingly controlling.
After Belle left him, Tom grew violent, spying on her and harassing her while trying to portray her as unstable. In a recent episode, he even held her against her will and attempted to kill her, prompting her to fight back.
Since then, Belle has been struggling to cope with the fallout, facing the prospect of prison for the attack while dealing with the heartbreaking loss of her father, Zak Dingle. As her mental health deteriorates, Tom is exploiting her vulnerability, attempting to convince others that her claims of abuse are merely a figment of her imagination.
After Belle violated her bail conditions this week by confronting Tom, he quickly reached out to DS Foy to have her questioned. On Wednesday, she was taken into police custody, where she admitted to the events that transpired and expressed her fears that Tom might evade justice.
During the interrogation, DS Foy supported Belle, stating that he believed her claims. He reassured her that he trusted everything she had revealed about Tom and the abuse she suffered.
However, they were still unable to locate the missing iPad that could substantiate some of Tom’s actions, unaware that Tom had destroyed it. Foy urged Belle to be cautious and reconsider any plans to approach her ex, warning her that it could lead to her being incarcerated.
Foy cautioned Belle that if she violated her bail conditions again, she could face imprisonment. He explained that if it was established she was of sound mind, they would have no choice but to arrest her.
Belle appeared to be in distress, raising concerns about her wellbeing in later scenes, while Foy reassured her of his belief in her story. With Foy determined to take down Tom and seek justice for Belle, many are left wondering: could this be the turning point that leads to Tom’s downfall?
