Natalie Cassidy revealed the real reason behind her nine-year engagement and discussed her wedding essentials. During a recent episode of the Memory Lane podcast, the EastEnders star talked about her future wedding plans with Marc Humphreys when asked why they haven’t tied the knot yet.

Natalie revealed that two main factors are holding her back from getting married. While she’s open to a “small” celebration, she still desires a touch of luxury for her big day with the BBC cameraman. She explained, “It’s a lot of money, isn’t it? The real issues are time and budget. I think, ‘I’ll keep it simple; I don’t need to go overboard…’

“But if I do keep it small, I want it at The Ledbury. I want a Michelin-star meal because, to be honest, I can be a bit of a snob. I’ll want the best flowers and a designer suit.”

Natalie, famous for her role as Sonia Fowler on the beloved soap, began her relationship with Marc in 2014 and announced their engagement the following year. In a 2023 interview with OK!, she expressed their strong attraction to each other, stating they “fancy the pants off each other” and would “love to get married.” However, she admitted to being “very indecisive,” often fluctuating between the desire for a grand wedding and a simpler affair.

She shared her ideal timeline for the wedding, saying, “Ten years would be a brilliant time to do it. Either 10 years together or 10 years engaged.” Natalie also has two daughters, Eliza and Joanie, and recently revealed that her youngest, Joanie, has started watching EastEnders and can now recognize her celebrity mum.

In a recent appearance on Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Spinning Plates podcast, Natalie Cassidy shared her love for EastEnders, admitting she’s an “avid fan” of the show. However, her daughter had a brutally honest critique of her character, Sonia. Natalie recounted, “She says, ‘Mummy, Sonia is so boring.’ I replied, ‘Oh, that’s really nice,’ and she continued, ‘No, I just don’t like watching you on here. Honestly, I just don’t like it.’”
