EastEnders star Shiv Jalota has responded to speculation that his character, Vinny Panesar, might be killed off in the BBC soap.

Concerned fans have been forecasting a tragic end for Suki and Nish Panesar’s son for months, especially with the impending exit of the villainous Nish. Recently, Nish even attempted to kill Vinny, leading viewers to believe that his character might meet a grim fate.

Fortunately, Vinny was saved and lived to tell the tale, but speculation about a tragic fate for the Panesar family continues. With viewers still believing that Nish might survive his terminal illness and remain on the show, Vinny could still be in jeopardy.

Shiv expressed hope that Vinny’s recent survival would rule him out as a potential shock victim. In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, he shared that even his family was concerned about his character’s fate following the dramatic scenes.

Fans watched as Nish prepared to kill Vinny after realizing his son was against him, striking him over the head and holding him hostage with a knife.

Reflecting on this intense twist, Shiv said, “My actual dad called me after it aired, asking, ‘Are you gonna die?’ I had to tell him I couldn’t share anything! But it was an incredible storyline.”

He continued, “I’m very lucky to have such substantial material to work with, especially with Nish. Vinny still sees him as his dad, which creates a complex conflict, especially after he hit me over the head!” Although Vinny and Nish are currently on civil terms, Shiv hinted that Vinny’s feelings toward his father have changed.

“Vinny is fully supportive of his mum. He wants Suki and Eve to be happy together. He’s come to terms with that and wants nothing to do with his dad anymore.” However, the actor hinted that more drama is on the horizon before Nish’s departure.

Upcoming spoilers reveal that next week, Nish will confront Suki about the true events of Christmas Day. Convinced she and The Six are hiding something, he pushes for answers until he seems to uncover the truth.

As Nish begins to torment Suki again and targets The Six, could another death twist be looming a year after his near-fatal attack? Shiv stated, “I can’t reveal too much. There will definitely be twists and turns ahead.”

“Nish Panesar is such a formidable villain, and Navin Chowdhry plays him brilliantly. Anything can happen right now. The soap is so engaging that it’s completely unpredictable. I have no idea what’s coming next, but there’s a lot more to unfold before Nish exits.”
