Coronation Street fans might be in for a surprise as the soap hints at an unexpected murder suspect following Joel Deering’s death.

It seems that someone closely connected to the investigation could be the real killer, trying to shift the blame onto another character. Joel’s body was discovered last month in a river after he was attacked, but the true murderer remains a mystery.

Multiple characters, including DS Swain, Ed and Ronnie Bailey, Dee-Dee Bailey, and even Carla Connor, are under suspicion. However, could the real culprit be someone entirely different?

In tonight’s episode, Ryan comes across a police file that Kit left at the Rovers Return. During their chat, Kit jokingly warns Ryan that he would have had to arrest him if he had looked inside the file. Their conversation then turns to Ryan’s ex-girlfriend, Daisy, with Ryan admitting he hasn’t moved on yet. Kit reassures him that healing takes time, especially after everything they’ve experienced together.

As Ryan expresses how much he misses Daisy, Kit advises him not to dwell on the past and suggests they go out for drinks later. With hints that Kit may have his sights set on Daisy, could he be plotting to eliminate Ryan permanently? After all, sending Ryan to jail would certainly remove him from the competition. Is Kit behind Joel’s murder, trying to frame Ryan to clear the way for himself?

Jacob Roberts, who plays Kit, has teased his character’s intriguing backstory in an interview with The Mirror. “I enjoy that you don’t know much about him right now. He’s an independent character who doesn’t rely on anyone else. I’d like to keep that mystery alive for as long as possible before revealing why he is the way he is,” he shared.

He also mentioned, “I think he has a darker side, but I wouldn’t call him a villain; I’ll let the audience decide that. He does things he justifies, like with Nathan. He believed he was getting a bad person off the streets. We still don’t know if he’s capable of murder or if he’s completely innocent. That uncertainty is intriguing, and even I don’t know what’s coming next!”

Roberts added, “I love this mischievous side where he can get away with things. If we can keep exploring that—along with blackmail and manipulation—that would be fantastic.”

As the plot thickens, viewers are left wondering whether Kit will ultimately be deemed a suspect.
