Sally and Tim Metcalfe (played by Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) are in for an unpleasant surprise on Coronation Street next week when they discover someone has been secretly staying in their garden shed.

Initially, the couple thinks they have a mouse problem after noticing scattered food around the kitchen.

As Sally starts cleaning out the cupboards, Tim rushes in from the garden, suspecting that the “mice” may have also found their way into the shed.

But when Sally investigates, she finds a bag inside and realizes it’s not mice causing the disturbance – it’s a person.

Later, as Tim takes the bag over to Street Cars, Mason (played by Luca Toolan) observes him and reveals that the bag belongs to him, explaining that he’s currently homeless.

Since his release from prison, Mason has struggled to get back on his feet. Although Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Stu (Bill Fellows) initially offered help, she asked him to leave after his violent, criminal brother brought trouble to her home.

Mason received some support from a case worker, who helped him secure a place to live, but it seems that arrangement has fallen through.

With Stu now in Germany with his granddaughter Eliza and her father Dom, Mason finds himself alone again.

Toward the end of the week, Tim tries but fails to find Mason a place to stay, ultimately offering him a spot on his sofa for the night.

In a new clip, Tim is visibly nervous, promising to keep looking for accommodation for Mason and hoping that Sally won’t find out.

It’s a risky decision that’s bound to backfire – how will Sally react when she discovers a troubled teen has been secretly sleeping in her home, without her knowing?
