EMMERDALE has unveiled the truth behind Tom King’s brutal assault—and it wasn’t Sam Dingle.
The ITV soap hinted in earlier spoilers that Tom, who has a history of abusive behavior, would be found bleeding after being attacked in the village, and today’s episode delivered on that promise.
However, not everything was as it appeared. At the start of the episode, Jimmy was frustrated as he tried to reach Nicola, who continued to ignore him. Tom’s presence at the cottage only added to his irritation, prompting Jimmy to tell Tom to leave for the day, as he started to see through Tom’s façade of victimhood.
Later, Laurel discovered Tom bleeding at the church, where he claimed he had been attacked. She took him back to her home, and Tom insisted he couldn’t report the assault to the police, falsely blaming the Dingles.
Tom’s deceit worked on Jimmy, who pledged his unwavering support and convinced him not to involve the police regarding Sam.
As the episode progressed, the truth began to surface when Tom met with his solicitor friend. “I’ve got a splinter from whacking you with that branch,” the friend mentioned.
Tom responded, “I wish mine were just a splinter, but it was worth it.” His solicitor cautioned him that things were becoming too chaotic and that he would no longer represent him, but Tom was determined to keep him on board.
“I really don’t want to start fresh with another solicitor, so let’s just keep going,” Tom insisted. “You’ve got my back, and I’ve got yours. You won’t have to say anything; just do your job and make sure I don’t get charged.”
Tom then proposed they devise a backup plan in case the situation escalated. “I can’t go to prison, so we need to do whatever it takes—legally or otherwise.”
