EastEnders fans can enjoy a hearty Chinese meal and a performance by a soap legend for just £15.
Cheryl Fergison, 59, is selling tickets to her special Cheryl’s Special £15 Weekend as she seeks to make some money after struggling to secure acting work.
For £15, attendees will receive a starter of sweetcorn soup, a meat curry, and sides like sweet and sour rice or green peppers in black bean sauce. Diners can also choose rice, chips, or noodles, all while enjoying Cheryl’s two-hour singing performance.
Cheryl shared the event details on social media, with a menu for the weekend’s show at Great Fortune House in Thornton Cleveleys. Excited fans quickly responded, with one writing: “We’re coming, can’t wait! How do we book?” and another commenting, “Don’t walk, RUN!”
This is the third money-making venture Cheryl, who portrayed Heather Trott in EastEnders, has pursued this month. She has also been selling her old scripts for £50 each and offering signed photos from her time on the show for £5 plus postage.
However, a TV insider warned that selling her scripts could lead to trouble with EastEnders bosses, as she may not own the copyright to the material.
Cheryl’s financial hustle comes after she admitted struggling to secure acting jobs to pay her bills. In a candid video posted on social media, she shared: “There’s a terrible misconception that we’re all rich. That is far from the truth. I’ve been out of EastEnders for over 13 years now, and while I’ve done jobs like panto, it’s not the same as being in a soap full time.”
She explained that, unlike A-list stars, acting jobs don’t provide continuous income. “We have bills to pay and a roof to keep over our heads,” she said, adding that people don’t always realize how hard it can be to stay financially stable after leaving a major role.
Cheryl first appeared as Heather Trott in EastEnders in June 2007. Her character, a fan of George Michael and best friend to Shirley, was tragically murdered by Ben Mitchell in April 2012. Ben, played by Joshua Pascoe, killed Heather by striking her with a picture frame, causing her to fall and hit her head on the counter. He was later jailed for the crime, though his father, Phil, tried to cover it up.
