An Emmerdale couple is about to face one of their toughest challenges yet, with one star revealing that soap bosses have previously considered splitting them up.
Nick Miles, who plays Jimmy King, opened up to Inside Soap about the difficult times ahead for his character and partner Nicola. Despite enduring their fair share of drama, they remain one of the longest-standing couples in the village.
Nick reflected on the moments when producers have nearly ended Jimmy and Nicola’s relationship, saying, “There have been a few producers who considered splitting them up, and we’ve always said ‘no!’ – they’ve come close, but haven’t done it yet.”
He added, “Most people fight through the tough times in relationships, trying to figure out how to make things better. That’s why their pairing resonates with so many, because it reflects real-life experiences.”
However, the couple is now facing even more tension as Jimmy struggles to come to terms with Tom King’s abusive behavior towards Belle. Nick explained, “Life at home is pretty difficult for Jimmy right now. Nicola’s been visiting Angel a lot, and Jimmy is fighting to keep his business afloat, which is taking his focus away from supporting Nicola. It’s a tough period for them.”
He continued, “We’re as strained as we’ve ever been. As the story with Tom develops, Nicola begins to see things that Jimmy doesn’t, which pulls them further apart.”
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Jimmy and Nicola.
