Coronation Street star Peter Ash made a surprising return to the ITV soap, delighting fans with his brief comeback.
The 39-year-old actor, who joined the show in 2018 as Paul Foreman, had viewers hooked as his character faced the challenges of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Following his return for a final appearance, Peter took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts.
He wrote: “It was so lovely to be back on the cobbles of Coronation Street one FINAL time! This brings my total episodes of Corrie to a neat 600! It’s been the time of my life! Love you, Jane Hazlegrove & Dan_Brocklebank,” also tagging #Paul #Bernie #Billy #Corrie #CoronationStreet.
Peter first appeared in Weatherfield in 2018 as David Platt’s cellmate at Highfield prison. His character quickly became a fan favorite, particularly due to his heartfelt relationship with Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank). Their love story culminated in the soap’s first same-sex wedding, a milestone in the show’s 60-year history.
Fans flooded the comment section of his post, with one writing: “Thank you, it was such a lovely ending to a special storyline. It’s a shame we had to lose one of the best actors on the show. You will be missed, good luck for the future.” Another fan commented: “You’ve been marvelous, Paul! We’ll all miss you. Good luck with the panto and all you do in the future!”
Others shared their appreciation for his time on the show, with one fan saying, “Such a poignant scene last night. You will be missed,” and another adding, “It was great to see you back!!!”
After his exit from the soap, Peter is now gearing up to star as Abanazar in the pantomime Aladdin at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham, Manchester, running from December 12 to January 4.
The theatre production announced in August: “OLDHAM PANTO CASTING NEWS! We are thrilled to announce that PETER ASH will star as Abanazar in this year’s panto at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Aladdin! Peter is best known for portraying the character Paul Foreman in Coronation Street.”
In a recent interview with ITV’s This Morning, Peter revealed how he was spending his summer, saying, “That’s [in] December. I’ve got a bit of a while to prep for that yet. I’m just going to enjoy the summer.”
