EMMERDALE has been taken off the air tonight due to a major schedule change.
Typically, the ITV soap airs a one-hour episode on Thursday nights, but tonight’s installment has been canceled. Instead, ITV will broadcast live sports coverage, sidelining Emmerdale—a decision sure to leave fans disappointed.
The channel will feature live coverage of the UEFA Nations League match between England and Greece, held at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, beginning at 7 pm.
As a result, Emmerdale has been completely removed from tonight’s lineup, and the nightly ITV News broadcast has been shortened to just 30 minutes.
ITV’s lead sports host, Mark Pougatch, will present the match coverage with analysis from Roy Keane and Ian Wright, while Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon provide commentary. Earlier this year, live sports events frequently interrupted Emmerdale’s schedule, as was the case during the Olympics and Euro 2024 over the summer.
In this week’s episodes, viewers saw Tina Dingle reveal her true identity to her family, disclosing that she is Vinny’s biological mother.
After making a surprise return for her father Zak’s funeral, Tina has been lingering around the Dingles to claim her share of Wishing Well Cottage. Her arrival led to a tense standoff with Mandy Dingle, who had been trying to keep Vinny’s maternity a secret.
Knowing the truth about Vinny’s parentage, Mandy struck a deal with Tina to help her access the inheritance in exchange for keeping quiet. However, it wasn’t long before Tina spilled the truth to Vinny herself.
Meanwhile, Eric Pollard’s battle with Parkinson’s disease has taken a toll, with recent scenes showing him struggling just to get out of bed.
