Alan Halsall has opened up about his biggest challenge ahead of his upcoming stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, admitting that the hardest part will be being away from work. The Coronation Street actor, who has been part of the soap since 1998, considers his role on the ITV show an integral part of his life, making the idea of life without it feel almost unimaginable.

Having spent over 26 years on the Corrie set, Halsall has developed a deep connection to the show, the cast, and the crew. He told The Mirror, “I’m super close to my family and friends, and there are lots of things I’ll miss. I love my job, I love going into work, and I love the people I work with.” He continued, “It’s difficult to explain how big a part of my life Coronation Street has been. It’s not just the show; it’s the people—everyone, from the on-screen talent to the behind-the-scenes crew, writers, and storyliners. I feel so fortunate to have worked with them all.”

At 42, Halsall also expressed concerns about the challenges of the jungle, especially after a knee injury delayed his appearance by a year. Despite this setback, he said the show’s producers are confident in his ability to thrive in the 2024 season.

His other concern is for his 11-year-old daughter, Sienna, who was initially upset by the idea of him being away for so long. Despite the separation, Alan is hopeful that Sienna will be proud of him when she watches him on TV. Reflecting on his split from his ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson in 2018, with whom he shares Sienna, he said, “I don’t think many people realize how emotional I am about Sienna. I have no choice but to be open about it now, and it’s going to be tough.”

Alan acknowledged that being away from his daughter for weeks will be a challenge, especially since it’s the longest they’ve ever been apart. “It’s much harder than I thought,” he admitted. “She won’t be able to see me or talk to me, and that’s really difficult. But I think once she sees me on screen, she’ll hopefully smile and have a laugh at my expense—hopefully, I won’t embarrass her too much.”
