Ed Bailey and Ronnie Bailey of Coronation Street have made the decision to start a business together after realizing how well they got along.

When Ed Bailey (played by Trevor Michael Georges) learns that his brother destroyed their most recent business endeavor, he is about to have his heart broken by him.

Ed is eager to tell Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) about a land parcel that is for sale and has a permit for six dwellings in upcoming scenes.

He clarifies that with good planning, they might profit significantly from the land and the homes they construct.

Ronnie knows he’s spent the money, but he reluctantly agrees to look at the specifics.

Ronnie offers to buy him some more time by suggesting that they hire a surveyor to look over the property before making any hasty decisions.

Ronnie is assured by Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) that he only needs to delay Ed for a few more days elsewhere in the cafe.

Later, Ed admits that in order to expedite the process, he hired his own surveyor. He also advises that they call the estate agent to submit an offer on the property.

Knowing that he must reveal the money and risk damaging his connection with his brother, Ronnie hides his anxiety.

Ed is saddened to learn later that there has been a lot of interest in the property and that sealed offers are currently being accepted.

While keeping the setback from Ed, Ronnie is relieved about it. However, soon after, Debbie informs him that Newton and Ridley shares have plummeted and that he should better hope Waterfords make an offer soon.

Ronnie, who is unsure of what to do, confides in Ed that he is having second thoughts about the new project and believes they should abandon it, but Ed is adamant that they continue.

In The Rovers, Henry Newton (George Banks) tells Ronnie that although his father wants to sell the brewery, he is doing everything in his power to prevent it.

When Henry points out that the businessman never mentioned Waterford, Ronnie begs him to accept Waterford’s offer. Henry then demands to know where Ronnie got his information.

What strategy will Ronnie use to get out of this one?

Ronnie is obliged to explain that there is no money because he spent it all on shares in Newton and Ridley that are now worthless when Ed says he has submitted a bid for the plot of land.

What will Ed do? Has this permanently damaged their relationship? Will Ed ever be able to believe his brother?
