It’s been four years since Rukku Nahar said goodbye to Albert Square, and she now looks quite different from her time on EastEnders. The actress portrayed Habiba Ahmed in the BBC One soap from February 2019 until October 2020.

Habiba left Walford following the arrest and imprisonment of her boyfriend, Jags Panesar. Later, it was revealed that she was pregnant with Jags’ child and gave birth to a baby boy off-screen, with her sister Iqra (Priya Davdra) sharing the news before also departing from Walford.

Since her departure from Albert Square, Habiba has occasionally been mentioned, with her immediate family – the Masoods – also no longer residing in London.

Recently, Habiba’s character has been mentioned by Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), who is trying to reconnect with her to see his grandson in an effort to win back his ex-wife, Suki (Balvinder Sopal).

Despite these references to Habiba and her son visiting Walford, a return to EastEnders for the character isn’t expected anytime soon. After leaving the soap, 28-year-old Rukku appeared in the BBC series Flatmates and the ITV show The Good Karma Hospital.

Rukku also appeared in the 2023 film The Buckingham Hospital as Harleen, as well as in the short film Blame in 2021. Since her time on EastEnders, the actress has amassed a significant social media following, boasting over 60,000 followers on Instagram, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

Her Instagram is filled with glamorous photos showcasing her vibrant life in London alongside friends and family, featuring everything from sunny picnics to lively nights out. Rukku appears to be a frequent traveler, enjoying stylish holidays, and she remains close with her former on-screen sister, Priya.

The actress quietly bid farewell to EastEnders when her final scenes aired in October 2020. She shared details about her departure on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the BBC soap for the valuable lessons she learned during her time on the show. Rukku also highlighted her appreciation for the friendships she forged while portraying Habiba.

EastEnders fans are now eager for Habiba’s return to Walford after her son Tye unexpectedly showed up to visit his grandparents, Suki and Nish, despite their complicated history with his mother.

Social media has been abuzz with comments like, “Where’s Habiba? The grandson came alone?” Another viewer expressed their disappointment, saying, “Tye is back in Walford.

I wish Habiba came back with him.” Someone else added, “Suki and Tye are so cute. It’s just a shame that Habiba didn’t return to Walford.”
