Fans of EastEnders are aware that Ben Mitchell has been hiding a terrible eating condition from his loved ones, but upcoming episodes will eventually reveal his dark secret.
In forthcoming episodes of the BBC soap opera EastEnders, Max Bowden’s Ben Mitchell, a fan favourite, will confront his eating disorder for the first time.
Following his experience with rape, Ben developed bulimia, which has caused him to suffer in silence.
Although he has succeeded in keeping it hidden from others around him, he will soon be exposed.
Prior to Jay Brown’s (Jamie Borthwick) parental hearing, Ben battles thoughts of inadequacy, and he acts evasively when Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) tries to plan a party in The Vic that evening.
Later, Ben appears destined to completely miss the court appearance as he takes his anger out on the gym bag, but George Knight (Colin Salmon) steps in to save the day.
No of how he feels, the father of two tells Ben to support Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown).
Jay is relieved when Ben finally succeeds, but later at The Vic, Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) notices something troubling about Ben’s eating habits.
She follows him home and shares her own bulimia experiences in an effort to persuade him to open up to her.
Ben lashes out and commands Honey to leave but is unable to express his suffering. Ben sobs as he realises he is all alone after she leaves.
Honey counsels Callum Highway (Tony Clay), who is concerned, to attempt to persuade his husband to open up to him, but she won’t reveal Ben’s identity.
When Ben finds them together and snaps at Honey without realising she’s guarding his secret, Billy and Jay intervene.
Ben must apologies to Honey, says Lexi, and they go for coffee later.
Honey urges Ben to let Callum in, and it appears as though Ben would comply until a challenging exchange with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) causes him to start purging once more.
However, Callum gets home early and spots Ben. However, when Callum tries to speak to Ben, terrible things happen.
Later, while Ben is punching a bag at the Boxing Den, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) is horrified to discover Ben in a horrible state.
She quickly ascertains the cause of his distress and shares her perspective as a fellow rape survivor.
The beloved character from Walford cautions Ben that if he doesn’t get assistance, he will kill himself and everyone he loves.
With Kat by his side, Ben unwillingly decides to try a support group.
Later, Callum, his husband, begs him to let him in so he can explain what has been happening when he goes home to an anxious Callum.
Ben and Kat attend the evaluation, when he finally begins to discuss his psychological trauma.
