She portrayed Ricky Sharpe, a popular Summer Bay resident, on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016, forming one-half of one of the show’s most renowned golden couples with Steve Peacocke, who played Daryl “Brax” Braxton.

Now, Bonnie Sveen has taken to Instagram to freely address fans’ questions about what it was like to be a part of the Channel Seven show.

When asked about her feelings about playing Ricky and being Steve’s on-screen love interest, Bonnie all smiled.

“I loved the experience. I was mega grateful for the chance to act every day, get on-set experience, make new friends (inc my one-day husband), and play staunch surfer Ricky. Man, I loved being in & near the ocean so much… I miss it!” she spilled.

“Steve is a terrific actor, isn’t he!!” she exclaimed, gushing over her former co-star. I had a great time working with him, and I believe we helped one other bring out the best in each other’s performances.”

Despite Bonnie’s fond memories of her time on the show, it appears she won’t be reprising the role anytime soon.

“As much as I would like to go back in time or revisit roles (any, probably!) I also believe that was is done, is done,” she explained in another post.

“Let time take you to new places and create new connections. I’m not who I was 4 years ago but she walked me to where I am now.”

Bonnie met her current partner Nathan Gooley, who was working as an associate director on the show, during her time on the legendary serial.

Myrtle Mae and Emerald, the couple’s identical twin daughters, were born in October 2018.

Bonnie has a special spot for a particular scene in Home and Away’s history because of their romantic bond.

“What about the episode where Ed Sheeran serenaded the Bay and Ricky fell for the doctor MEANWHILE irl Nath had to step in as Ed’s eyeline while they filmed the cast and I was watching Nath pretend to sing ‘We found love right where we are’ while we were FALLING IN LOVE,” she responded when asked about her favorite scene to film on Home and Away.

While Bonnie was asked about other elements of her life, most of the questions revolved about her time on Home and Away, prompting one fan to wonder if this bothered her.

“No it doesn’t bother me… it would if I didn’t have a strong sense of self away from Ricky, but I know who I am, and have had the opportunity to work on myself more since coming back to Tas and having a “home” and a fam,” Bonnie replied.

“It does occasionally increase my want for something fresh and different… but I recognize that this is my ego speaking.”

“Ultimately I was so fortunate to play such a deadly character for such a long length of time. And am looking forward to the next acting job when that materializes.”
