Coronation Street fans believe David Platt wasn’t the one who stole Damon Hay’s money — and they think they’ve figured out who the real culprit is.
Coronation Street fans are convinced that David Platt isn’t the true thief behind Damon Hay’s missing cash and believe they’ve uncovered the real culprit.
Recently in Weatherfield, imprisoned criminal Damon (Ciaran Griffiths) planned to use stolen money to cover medical expenses for Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) after her botched cosmetic surgery in Turkey.
Damon had hidden the cash in a storage unit following his involvement in an armed heist. Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) discovered Damon’s offer but initially withheld the information from Sarah.
When Adam finally told her, the money was already gone. Suspicion fell on multiple locals, including Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson), Gail Platt’s (Helen Worth) new boyfriend. Sarah also confronted Adam, but he insisted he had nothing to do with it.
During Monday’s episode (October 21), Logan (Harry Lowbridge) broke into Sarah’s house, believing the cash was stashed there. However, by the end of the episode, viewers seemed to have pieced together who the real culprit might be, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Lily was caught by her father, David, rummaging through the cupboard under the stairs. A panicked David hurriedly sent her away and, once alone, began searching through the area. He soon discovered a bag full of cash.
To keep it hidden, David stashed the money under a duvet along with other items. Although this scene seemed to implicate David as the thief, fans aren’t convinced he’s the one who actually stole the money.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers shared their theories about who the real culprit might be.
One fan remarked, “I don’t think it was David!” Another added, “He looked genuinely surprised when he found the money.”
A third echoed the sentiment, saying, “I believe someone else took the money and hid it there—David isn’t the culprit.”
Theories about the real thief soon emerged, with many fans suspecting David’s partner, Shona (Julia Goulding), could be behind it. One viewer speculated, “Could it be Shona?” Another agreed, “That makes sense—maybe David mentioned the money to her?” A third chimed in, “I’m thinking the same. There’s definitely a twist coming; David isn’t the thief.”
