Coronation Street fans believe they’ve uncovered how Bethany Platt, portrayed by Lucy Fallon, will exit the ITV soap, as her departure storyline has reportedly been confirmed. Bethany has become a beloved character over the years, taking part in some of the show’s most powerful storylines, including a harrowing grooming plot and multiple complicated relationships.

Recently, Bethany’s journey took another dramatic turn after a liposuction procedure in Turkey went wrong, leaving her with a perforated bowel and a severe case of sepsis. The failed surgery in September resulted in an emergency operation, and her family is now struggling with costly hospital bills after learning her medical insurance wouldn’t cover the treatment.

In a tough decision, Bethany’s grandmother, Gail Platt (Helen Worth), was forced to take out a high-interest loan against her home to cover the mounting expenses. Bethany, meanwhile, was left with a permanent stoma bag, adding to her emotional and physical challenges.

The drama intensified with an August announcement that Lucy Fallon would be taking maternity leave from Coronation Street, as she’s expecting her second child with her partner, Ryan Ledson. Lucy and Ryan welcomed their first child, Sonny Jude, last year.

On a Coronation Street fan group on Facebook, viewers began to speculate about Bethany’s potential exit storyline. Many believe she could go through a “breakdown” over her recent struggles and leave the cobbles with Gail, as Helen Worth is also set to exit the show after an impressive five decades.

One fan commented, “Wonder how they’ll write Bethany out for Lucy’s maternity leave?” sparking more responses. Another replied, “I think she’ll leave with Gail for a long holiday.” A different viewer suggested, “Bethany might have a breakdown about the stoma and leave with Gail.” Others agreed, with one fan adding, “The stoma storyline has been done really well. I think she’ll leave with Gail and Jessie to find herself.”

As Lucy’s maternity leave approaches, fans are curious whether she’ll return to Coronation Street afterward. Reassuring her followers, Lucy shared a selfie from the Coronation Street set on Instagram, captioned with a message: “Lots of Corrie questions—don’t worry, I’ll be back after having the baby!”
