Coronation Street viewers are deep in speculation about who killed Joel Deering (played by Calum Lill) as the mystery is set to be solved on Friday, November 15. So far, fans know that Joel was murdered on September 27, likely struck with a heavy object like a crowbar, and later found in a river.

A special episode of the ITV soap will finally reveal what happened on the night of Joel’s death. However, some fans already suspect they know who the culprit is—Sabrina Adetiba.

In Monday night’s episode, Sabrina visited Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) in the hospital, wishing her happiness with Max Turner (Paddy Bever). As Sabrina remarked that Lauren deserved peace after all she endured with Joel, Lauren pointed out that she had barely avoided a similar fate.

Played by Luana Santos, Sabrina Adetiba first appeared in June 2023 and quickly started a relationship with Max. Joel had been grooming and targeting young women earlier in the year, and Sabrina was nearly one of his victims until her friend Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) grew suspicious and helped to keep Joel away.

However, Luana recently confirmed her departure from the soap. This week, she shared on her Instagram Stories that these scenes would be her last in the Manchester-based drama, including a throwback photo from her first appearance.

Despite this announcement, some fans believe her social media post might be a misdirect and that Sabrina is Joel’s killer. On Reddit, one viewer speculated, “Could the killer be… Sabrina? We haven’t seen her in months, and now she suddenly appears to wish Max and Lauren well. It’s rarely one of the official suspects, and she isn’t listed, even though she narrowly escaped Joel’s abuse.”

Another fan added, “If Sabrina did kill Joel, it would be the most dramatic development for her character. It does seem plausible, given her sudden reappearance and the fact that she also has two friends who were victimized by Joel, giving her a motive.”

A third viewer agreed, “It could be – she hadn’t been on screen for months, and it was announced she was leaving. Now she reappeared to share a heartfelt moment with Lauren. I don’t think any of the suspects we’ve seen so far are the real killers; they’re just red herrings.”

Another fan suggested Sabrina may have had an accomplice, potentially her brother. “Gav’s also left the show, so this could be a way to write him out, too,” they speculated.
