Coronation Street appears to be distancing Dee-Dee Bailey from the murder of Joel Deering, even though she is set to confess in an upcoming episode.

Next week, overwhelmed by guilt, Dee-Dee will admit to her father, Ed, that she killed Joel. In a heartbreaking moment, she will reveal that she attacked him with a crowbar, following a flashback that shows her tracking him down, screaming and crying in despair as she cleans the blood off the weapon and her hands.

Dee-Dee’s erratic behavior has raised suspicions in Kit Green, who believes she might be the killer. As she prepares to turn herself in and claim responsibility for Joel’s death, Ed desperately tries to dissuade her from confessing. However, it seems possible that Dee-Dee is not the true murderer, especially given the nature of the spoilers that have been released.

Typically, a killer’s identity is kept under wraps until the episode airs. Yet with episodes now available early on ITVX, Coronation Street may not have felt the need to conceal this plot point.

Adding to the intrigue is a scene from a few weeks ago, where detective Kit revealed key details about Joel’s death. He stated that Joel had been attacked with a heavy object, like a crowbar, before he was either pushed or fell into the river. It was confirmed that he died before entering the water, indicating he was murdered.

Notably, Kit mentioned that Joel suffered two fatal blows to the head, suggesting he might have been attacked twice. This could imply that while one person delivered both blows, it raises the possibility that two individuals were involved. If that’s the case, Dee-Dee could still be innocent unless she was the second attacker.

Meanwhile, speculation continues that either DS Lisa Swain or her daughter Betsy may be revealed as the true killer, following clues dropped in recent episodes.
