Coronation Street fans believe they’ve uncovered the identity of Joel Deering’s killer after the solicitor’s body was discovered in the river last month.

Coronation Street fans believe they’ve solved the mystery of Joel Deering’s murder. The lawyer, portrayed by Calum Lill, was found dead just as he was about to be held accountable for his crimes, including grooming young girls like Lauren Bolton, played by Cait Fitton.

Joel’s failure to attend his plea hearing last month led to a warrant for his arrest. After transferring money to Lauren and his ex-wife Emily, some speculated that Joel might have taken his own life.

However, his body was later found in a river, and a post-mortem revealed he had died before entering the water, prompting a murder investigation.

Police have been working hard to identify the culprit, with Mason Radcliffe, played by Luca Toolan, being questioned after Officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) spotted him disposing of a crowbar—the same weapon used in the killing. Despite Mason claiming it was given to him by his brother, he remains a prime suspect.

Viewers, however, suspect Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) may be the real killer. The Speed Daal employee, who has taken an interest in guiding troubled youth Mason, decided to leave Weatherfield for Germany with his granddaughter following a fallout with Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King), according to Plymouth Live.

Coronation Street fans have been buzzing with theories on a Facebook group dedicated to the show. One viewer speculated, “I think Stu did it. He handled Mason’s crowbar, then vanished and went to Germany very quickly.

“I don’t think it was Dee Dee—it’s too obvious. I reckon there’s a twist, and it’s Stu Carpenter. I think he killed Joel to protect Mason.”

Another fan agreed, adding, “You might be right. I don’t think Stu really went to Germany—he’s just gone walkabout.” A third simply remarked, “Interesting.”
