Coronation Street has dropped a clue regarding the true murderer of Joel Deering, featuring an old photograph of the suspects.
Joel, played by Calum Lill, was confirmed dead after vanishing in the wake of his actions toward Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Fans will remember that Lauren was assaulted by a man later revealed to be Joel.
While Lauren was initially presumed dead, she actually survived the assault and went into hiding. Upon returning to clear Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) name regarding her disappearance and supposed ‘murder,’ it was revealed that she was pregnant with Joel’s child.
To keep his secret under wraps, Joel continued to give her money and ‘support’ in exchange for her silence. However, the truth eventually came out, exposing him as the one responsible for Lauren’s attack and her near-death experience.
But now, the situation has reversed, and Joel is the one who’s dead. His body was discovered in a river, initially believed to be a suicide.
Joel was discovered with severe head injuries, confirming he had been murdered—but by whom?
DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is leading the investigation after DS Swain (Vicky Myers) was forced to step aside. Despite having several suspects, he seems no closer to identifying who took the law into their own hands to kill Joel.
The main suspects currently include the two women closest to Joel: Lauren Bolton and his former fiancé, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling Brown). But could either of them really be responsible for his death?
Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) and Mason (Luca Toolan) are also under suspicion, raising questions about their guilt. Additionally, Ed (Trevor Michael Georges), Dee-Dee’s father, is being questioned. Flashbacks reveal that Ed and Ronnie vanished into the night with a crowbar, while another flashback shows Dee-Dee confronting Joel on that fateful night—did they murder him?
Soap expert Sharon Marshall, appearing on This Morning, has hinted that the real culprit may actually be someone entirely different.
An old spoiler photo has resurfaced, showing four suspects—Mason, Ed, Ronnie, and Dee-Dee—gathered in the police station. Sharon has suggested that the true culprit might be someone entirely unexpected, especially since there’s an empty seat in the picture.
Could this hint at the involvement of someone we least suspect?
