In the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, Peter Ash has portrayed Paul Foreman since 2018.

Viewers have recently witnessed Paul Foreman (played by Peter Ash) at the center of one of the most terrifying plotlines on Coronation Street. The endearing character’s symptoms have been getting worse since his MND diagnosis last year.

The character was first intended to be a one-shot, appearing in passing as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate at Highfield Prison. Fans made a comeback to the show in 2019 as Gemma Winter’s estranged twin (Dolly-Rose Campbell).

He has now established himself as a mainstay in Weatherfield and was involved in the first gay marriage on Coronation Street, involving Daniel Brocklebank’s Billy Mayhew. When Paul recently decided to purchase drugs in order to end his life shortly, viewers were devastated.

It’s unknown when he will leave, but there will undoubtedly be some tears shed when he does. Express.co.uk has explored Peter Ash’s life outside of the ITV soap opera as the star of the show celebrated his birthday this month.

Soap star family

Will Ash, Peter’s cousin who plays Emmerdale’s Caleb Milligan, proves that he is not the only soap opera star in the family.

His cousin debuted on the ITV soap opera last year and was initially involved in one of the major plots of the program, wanting to bring down Kim Tate (Claire King).

Peter was all praise for his cousin’s role in the soap opera when he spoke with Express.co.uk the previous year.

“I really hope I catch up with him soon,” he remarked. I’m really enjoying the work that he’s doing. Hurry up, Ash’s!

As Will mentioned Peter’s MND storyline in an interview with Digital Spy, it appears that they have no family rivalry.

“He’s doing fantastic,” he stated. The fact that he will eventually have to leave is actually a shame. He’s a great boy and has done a fantastic job in it.”

In Coronation Street, Peter’s mother also made a brief appearance as a rude bus passenger who reprimanded her character upon boarding.

Family life

When he’s not filming, Peter usually keeps his life to himself, though he occasionally shares brief glimpses.

The soap opera star is reportedly dating Amy Shawcross, a nurse, whose profession is very different from Peter’s.

Amy and Peter started dating in 2018, and in 2021, the soap opera star shared a special anniversary post on social media.

With the caption, “Out for the weekend celebrating with @amypabbyshambo [sic],” he shared a picture of the two of them. Not only have we been dating for three years (I appreciate your patience!), but she recently earned her nursing degree! I’m so happy for you, baby. I adore you so much, xxxx.

Ayden is Peter’s only child, and he occasionally shares glimpses of their outings together on the internet.

Life before the cobbles

Before receiving his big break in Footballers Wives, Peter made several appearances in episodes of Casualty and starred as Colin in the TV series Blue Murder in 2003.

The seventeen-year-old soap opera star spent three years in the role of Darius Fry.

In 2018, Peter briefly appeared as Ron in the rival soap opera Hollyoaks before making his debut on Coronation Street.

When asked about his life before the cobbles, he had previously spoken to The Mirror and said, “I had some amazing acting jobs, but they were here and there spread out.” I worked in call centers and in bars during the day in between.

“As an actor, you are usually unemployed. That’s why I consider myself extremely fortunate to be a part of this show.
