Good Morning Britain fans saw Ranvir Singh and Rob Rinder speak to Coronation Street stars Calum Lill and Channique Sterling-Brown on Friday’s instalment of the ITV show.

After months of speculation, Coronation Street fans finally learnt who was behind Lauren Bolton’s (played by Cait Fitton) attack. In a flashback episode, people discovered that it was Joel Deering (Calum Lill) who had injured the teen.

ITV viewers saw the lawyer in the teen’s house as she tried to flee, however, he knocked her unconscious and appeared to repeatedly hit her over the head. However, it was Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) who was arrested on suspicion of Lauren’s murder on Thursday evening.

The arrest comes after her hair was found in the criminals van, which had been planted by newcomer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Despite viewers knowing who the real culprit is, Weatherfield residents are left believing it’s Nathan after Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was released from prison after the police initially believed it to be him.

With the mystery now solved, actor Calum Lill appeared on Good Morning Britain to speak about how his family reacted to the grand reveal. Rob Rinder, who was presenting the programme, asked: “I just wonder how you kept it a secret because you knew when you joined you were going to be revealed as the culprit.

The Good Morning Britain host highlighted that the soap star’s nan is a Coronation Street fan, which must’ve been hard keeping that from her. Calum replied: “Yeah 100 percent, it’s been a massive challenge.

“Keeping it from everyone, having to lie to everyone, it’s been a lot!

“I watched it last night, I went to my grandma’s house and watched it with her. She couldn’t believe it, I don’t think she can see me in the same light anymore!

“She gave me this side-eye and was like, ‘My grandson is a murderer!’.

“They’re all really proud, my phone was blowing up as soon as it happened.”

Although viewers know the truth, the Weatherfield residents remain none the wiser, including his partner Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown).

Speaking about their relationship, the soap star teased there could be drama on the horizon as Joel’s secret may not stay hidden for long.

She said: “She (Dee-Dee) is in love with this man and he’s in love with her as well.

“I think it is the version that is being presented that she absolutely accepts so why would she think any differently?

“But, obviously as is true to life, what is in the dark always comes to light so it’ll be a very interesting journey for them I think.”

Official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal that their relationship is set to take a serious turn as Joel decides to propose.

Will she accept his proposal? If so, is Dee-Dee going to find herself in danger?
