A Coronation Street star is making a surprise return to the cobbles a year after leaving the soap.

Seamus McGoff, who portrayed rebellious teen Matty Radcliffe, is set to reprise his role. Matty was last seen in October 2023 during a storyline with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), but he will return this month for a prominent new plotline.

In the upcoming scenes, Matty will be involved in a storyline where he steals from beloved characters Sally and Tim Metcalfe. Seamus announced his return on social media, sharing a photo of himself on the stairs and writing: “Thank you @coronationstreet for having me back on the cobbles playing Matty Radcliffe! @lucatoolan you better tell Mason to watch his back.”

Corrie star Sally Dynevor responded with a congratulatory message, saying, “Well done Seamus xxx.” Fans also expressed their excitement for his return, with one person commenting: “That’s brilliant you two both on there… you will be amazing!” Another wrote: “Super proud of you Séamy. Hard work and dedication has paid off. Very excited to see you on screen.”

Next week, Sally Metcalfe will take action after a recent burglary involving Mason Radcliffe in Coronation Street. Upset over the theft of her mother’s ring, Sally has a heated confrontation with Tim, blaming him for allowing Mason into their home. Meanwhile, Matty and Logan share a laugh at Mason’s expense, but Tim senses that Mason is fearful. Later, Mason reveals that he was the one who tipped off the police about the stolen car, apologizing for the trouble he caused.
