In the upcoming episodes, PC Craig Tinker and Kit Green review CCTV footage from a train station car park, where they see Joel and his father, Gus, near a locker. Later, Kit interviews Gus, pressing him for information about his missing son.
However, the situation takes a tragic turn when three young men discover a body floating by the riverbank. Craig informs Kit and DS Lisa Swain that they have found Joel’s body. The news is quickly relayed to Joel’s ex, Dee-Dee Bailey, and former victim, Lauren Bolton.
Later, things take a dramatic turn when Kit tells Lauren that the post mortem revealed that Joel was dead before he entered the river so they’re now looking at a murder investigation as he questions Lauren about where she was on the night of Joel’s death – September 27. Meanwhile, Dee-Dee tells father Ed and uncle Ronnie that Joel was murdered.
As the investigation continues, Kit reveals to Lisa that Joel died from two blows to the head, inflicted by a heavy weapon, most likely a crowbar. Meanwhile, Lisa is shocked to discover from Yasmeen Nazir that she threw Mason Radcliffe out because he had a crowbar and Lisa tells daughter Betsy to stay away from Mason.
However, Betsy quickly informs Mason that the police are onto him. He disposes of the crowbar in a bin behind the factory but is caught in the act by Kit. Meanwhile, Dee-Dee tells Ronnie that the police suspect Joel was attacked with a crowbar.
The week concludes with Ronnie and Ed being interrogated by the police, where they present their alibis. Ronnie claims he was home alone the night Joel went missing, while Ed states he was at No. 3 with Dee-Dee and Michael. Ronnie mentions that he last used the satnav when he and Michael helped Joel move out of his flat a long time ago. However, Michael reveals that they actually drove to Joel’s flat in his car during that time, leading Debbie to realize Ronnie has lied to her. What will she do next?
