Coronation Street fans will be gripped to their screens this week as one beloved character finds themselves in A&E after a horrible motorbike accident leaves them injured
Coronation Street fans are in for another dramatic week on the ITV cobbles this week after one character finds themselves in a grizzly accident.
Over the past few weeks Toyah Battersby has grown concerned for her sister Leanne who has slowly found herself embedded in a wellness group known as The Institute. But the blonde bombshell is convinced that the group is actually a cult which is determined to swindle their followers out of thousands of pounds.
It’s fair to say her investigating hasn’t gone unnoticed, when she showed Leanne a scathing review of the company in a bid to get her to leave. But centre leader Rowan quickly fobbed off the complaint, blaming it on a scorned ex-girlfriend seeking revenge.
Days later, Toyah was horrified to learn that X-rated clips had begun to circulate online with her face digitally printed onto pornographic images. She immediately reported it to the police, but officers were unable to trace the assailant who leaked the deepfake footage and couldn’t take them down.
Last week, the businesswoman found herself walking away in handcuffs after the body of her stillborn child was discovered under the precinct. Although she was released from custody, Toyah is determined to find out who reported her to the police.
At the start of the week, things take a turn for the worse when Toyah is horrified to get a delivery of yellow flowers at the Bistro. Explaining the significance of the flowers to Nick, she claims it had to be Rowan who reported her.
A furious Toyah storms over to the flat where she confronts Leanne with the roses and shows her the card. Leanne admits she told Rowan about the loss of her baby all those years ago.
It’s at this point that Nick returns home and spells out to Leanne that either she cuts all ties with Rowan and the Institute, or they’re finished. Later on in the week, Nick quizzes his fiancée about Rowan.
Angered by the insinuation that the pair are having an affair, she insists that she would never cheat on him. Meanwhile, Nick and Toyah agree that their recent kiss was a mistake and to never speak of it again.
Towards the end of the week, Rowan calls at the bistro on his motorbike and hands a spare helmet to Leanne before he whisks her away for a surprise. Leanne follows him out of the bistro, leaving Nick and Toyah to handle the lunchtime rush on their own.
Nick’s furious whilst Toyah’s incredulous about the whole situation. At a hotel restaurant, Rowan introduces Leanne to Willow, the CEO of the Institute over a video call. He then tells a flattered Leanne that she will soon be able to recruit new members herself.
As Toyah sets off for her Institute court case, she receives a call which shocks her. A devastated Toyah then rushes to A&E and tells the nurse that she had a call to inform her that her sister has been involved in a motorbike accident.
At the same time, officers arrive on the scene and inform Toyah that they can now release her baby for a proper burial, as her head spins. Viewers will have to stay tuned to see if Leanne will survive the crash and if Toyah and Nick can finally pull her from Rowan’s grip?
