Corrie’s Roy Cropper is finally out of prison but fans are fearing that his time behind bars has had a huge impact – so much so, they reckon he could pack up his things and leave

Corrie fans think something heartbreaking is in store for Roy Cropper – despite being released from prison.

The beloved character, played by David Neilson, was arrested earlier this year for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Fans will recall the troubled youngster has been missing since February – with Roy being the last known person to see her alive.

The search for Lauren then became a murder inquiry. And a slew of residents left fans suspicious, including Joel Deering (Calum Lill) and Roy – who ended up getting put behind bars accused of killing the teenager.

However, in Thursday’s dramatic episode (May 30) fans learned that it was Joel who was responsible for Lauren’s disappearance. But in a shock twist the cunning legal advisor has pushed the suspicion onto Nathan Curtis.

Nathan (Chris Harper), who is Bethany Platt’s former abuser, has since been arrested in connection with the teen’s apparent death. This meant Roy was finally able to leave prison.

He quickly arrived back at the cobbles and received a welcome party thrown by Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman). However, while everyone else was over the moon, Roy was notably quiet.

Now, fans are fearing that Roy’s prison stint has had a huge impact on him. So much so, they reckon he could pack up his things and move away from Weatherfield.

Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person penned: “I think Roy might need some therapy after everything he’s been through, bless him.” Someone else mused: “Roy has ptsd…?”

A third chimed in and said: “I get the feeling everything that’s happened is gonna have a lasting effect on Roy.” Another shared: “I think he’ll take a break for a while.”

A fifth soap viewer pointed out: “That’s what usually happens when a big storyline wraps up, I hope not.” A sixth follower wrote: “I think Roy might have a breakdown at a later stage.

While someone else even claimed Roy could get killed off, as they said: “Don’t let this be the death of Roy please.”
