Coronation Street’s Gail Platt is now battling for her life, with doctors delivering a dire warning. The beloved cobbles icon, played by Helen Worth, became overwhelmed as her children, David and Sarah, continued to bicker, along with tensions involving her boyfriend, Jesse.

When Jesse arrived to defend her, Gail insisted that everyone leave the house so she could calm down. However, things took a turn for the worse, and Jesse quickly called an ambulance, doing his best to keep her calm.

“I think I’m having a heart attack,” Gail said as paramedics arrived on the scene.

Jesse, trying to explain the situation, added, “She’d had a row with the kids—they’re a real handful from what I can see—and she got herself all worked up,” placing the blame on David and Sarah.

“She had a heart attack about three years ago,” Jesse pointed out.

Despite her struggles to breathe, Gail insisted she was fine and informed them of her current medication.

“Chest pains, tiredness,” she tried to explain as she gasped for air.

The paramedics conducted tests and swiftly transported Gail to the hospital, where she lost consciousness and they fought to save her life.

“She went into cardiac arrest as soon as they brought her in; they had to use those big pads to restart her heart,” Jesse explained as David, Nick, and Sarah arrived.

However, Jesse added that there was more to the situation, revealing that the doctors were still working on her.

Later the doctor came out and revealed there was a blockage in Gail’s heart – and she needs an angioplasty to remove it.

But she warned that Gail may have suffered serious damage in the cardiac arrest and it would be some time before they knew the extent of what’s happened.

The storyline marks the exit of actress Helen after 50 years in the role of Gail.

She is set to leave later this year in what’s been described as a happy ending.
