EastEnders’ Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace) is heartbroken after her son Tommy Moon was forced to leave their family home due to his violent behavior. However, some fans of the BBC One soap are convinced that Kat isn’t Tommy’s biological mother.
Troubled Tommy (played by Sonny Kendall) has exhibited aggressive behavior towards Kat for some time. After he violently lashed out at Freddie (Bobby Brazier) during a family dinner, it was revealed that he had also injured Bert and Ernie.
Tommy’s actions prompted a worried Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) to contact social services to protect the twins. Soon after, the authorities visited Kat’s home as Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) attempted to make her realize how serious Tommy’s behavior had become. Ultimately, it was decided that Tommy could no longer live with Kat and was placed with foster carer Zack Hudson (James Farrar) next door.
Tensions escalated when Kat learned that Jean had called social services, and both Alfie and Stacey (Lacey Turner) were aware of it. Kat confronted the Slater family, while Tommy has chosen to stop speaking to her.
As EastEnders fans know, Alfie is seen as Tommy’s father, but his biological dad is Michael Moon (Steve Shepherd). Michael was charming and handsome but also a dangerous villain, ultimately murdered by Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) on Halloween in 2013.
Recently, Kat compared Tommy to his late father, but some viewers are speculating that they may not be his true parents after all.
In a dramatic twist from New Year’s Eve 2010, Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) swapped her newborn for Kat and Alfie’s baby, Tommy. Ronnie’s son, James Branning, had tragically died from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) just days after birth.
Overwhelmed with grief, Ronnie brought her baby’s body to the pub to inform her family. However, upon hearing Kat’s baby crying upstairs in the Queen Vic, she panicked and swapped the infants before fleeing with Tommy. Eventually, Tommy was returned to Kat and Alfie.
This controversial storyline is considered one of the most shocking in soap history, and fans are now wondering if it will be revisited.
On Facebook, one viewer speculated, “I’m starting to think Ronnie’s deceased baby is actually Tommy.” Another replied, “Yes, because Ronnie swapped her baby with Kat’s after finding out about her loss, but who knows?” Discussing Tommy’s possible true identity, one fan exclaimed, “OMG, this would be amazing.”
Another added, “He’d probably go to Jack since he was the baby’s dad,” while someone else pointed out, “Isn’t it true that Ronnie admitted the swap and gave Kat her baby back?” A final commenter noted, “EastEnders has twists and turns everywhere.”
