Following the announcement that the producers have chosen to write the character out, Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) is expected to leave EastEnders later this year in a manner that will undoubtedly be incredibly explosive.

Since her up in the Square six years ago, the well-liked character has been at the center of a lot of turmoil, solidifying her status as a true fan favorite of Walford.

But now that EastEnders has revealed that Karen will be departing the serial in upcoming scenes, it’s time to say goodbye. Producers are unavoidably working around the clock to make her leave unforgettable.

Since then, speculation about how she will be portrayed has begun, but it has proven particularly challenging to come up with a plausible explanation for why Karen would ever up sticks and move, considering that the matriarch has never before shown any desire to live apart from her loved ones.

Why would Karen ever leave the Square and leave her family behind when the rest of the Taylor and Bakers remained where they were? Because of this mystery, fans have come to believe that the character will die.

Yet how?

Will Karen possibly perish in the horror now that EastEnders is planning a fire plot for this fall that will see a frightening inferno rip through the Square and leave devastation in its wake?

It’s possible given that Kathy’s cafe, which is supposedly likely to be destroyed in the fire, is directly across from the laundrette where she has worked for the previous five years.

The character of Karen was written out by EastEnders, according to Metro.co.uk, who first reported the news earlier this month. Her farewell scenes are scheduled to screen later this year.

Later, Lorraine Stanley expressed her regret about the decision on social media and paid respect to everyone who had a significant impact on her tenure on the BBC One serial opera.

‘Thank you to the BBC for providing me the opportunity to play such a fantastic role, and to [writer] Daran Little for creating the Taylors,’ she said.

I’ll miss all the EastEnders actors and staff and will be sad to say goodbye to Karen Taylor.

However, I’m enthused about beginning new businesses and looking forward to my next chapter in life as a jobbing actor.

“Once more, thank you for your nice words and incredible support!! I’ll miss my Taylor and Baker famalam. Roger Griffiths, Matthew Morrison, Danny Walters, and Clair Norris. Lots of love.

Not only is Lorraine leaving in the near future—Shona McGarty, a star of Whitney Dean for 15 years, is also saying goodbye.
