Cockney tough guy Danny Dyer has embraced a new role as a posh chauffeur after splurging £200,000 in cash on a Bentley. The EastEnders star received a VIP experience to entice him into purchasing the lavish Bentayga.

However, the luxury feature of backseat TVs has turned out to be a bit of a flop, as his children prefer to stay glued to their phones while he drives them around to their activities.

Dyer, who stars in the new Disney+ film Rivals as a flashy tech entrepreneur akin to Sir Alan Sugar, feels like he has truly made it with his new vehicle. He shared, “I realized I was cakeo bakeo recently when I bought a Bentley.”

He explained, “The thing about Bentleys is that you can’t get them on finance. They flew in to see me, knowing I had some money, and invited me to check out the Bentley dealership in Tunbridge Wells. They offered me a Bentley Bodega to borrow for a week, and I was driving this incredible car around. It had massaging seats and a cooling feature—I knew I wouldn’t be able to return it, so I ended up paying cash.”

The Bentley Bentayga is a hefty 2.5 tonnes but can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Danny, who is the father of Love Island winner Dani, 28, and two other children, Sunnie, 17, and ten-year-old Arty with his wife Joanne Mas, is also a grandfather to Dani’s sons: three-year-old Santiago and one-year-old twins Summer and Star. He now uses the Bentley to chauffeur his family around Essex.

On the Off Menu podcast, he admitted, “I had to justify the expense to my wife because no one really needs to spend that much on a car. I made sure they installed screens in the back with Netflix, so I could say, ‘It’s for the kids, for long journeys.’”

However, now that he has the car, the kids are more focused on their phones than the screens. He remarked, “It’s nonsense. I’ve raised very privileged kids. They don’t even realize how fortunate they are. It’s door-to-door Bentley for my kids now.”
