EastEnders viewers are speculating that the sinister Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) will make a dramatic return following his arrest.
In last night’s episode, the ruthless businessman was taken away in a police car after confessing to the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters). As he was driven off through Bridge Street Market, his ex-wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and other Walford women—Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), and Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth)—watched a fireworks display, believing their troubles were finally over. But could it really be that simple?
After spending a week trying to piece together the events of Christmas Day, Nish struck a deal with Suki to secure her future. He proposed that if she reunited with him until he succumbs to his terminal illness, he would confess to the police that he killed Keanu.
However, he overheard Suki discussing her plans to leave him, leading to a violent confrontation. Later, his granddaughter Avani, who has also suffered abuse in the past, prompted him to reconsider his actions.
Nish then gathered The Six at The Queen Vic and questioned the women about the details of Keanu’s murder—specifically where he was stabbed, which weapon was used, and how they disposed of his body. After sharing the details of the crime, it seemed like Nish had sealed his fate.
On Reddit, some fans are convinced that we haven’t seen the last of the villainous character before his demise. User Darth_Sidious10 pointed out that the official EastEnders social media accounts usually post tribute videos or photos for departing characters shortly after they leave. However, they noted that no such posts have been made for Nish/Navin.
The user continued, “When Dean and Bobby left, there were posts made within 15 minutes of the episode airing.” Navin has attempted to quell these rumors, sharing a tribute on Instagram that read: “Nish Panesar 2022-2024.”
User Azyall referenced Navin’s recent appearance on The One Show, where he mentioned that his wife wanted to clarify that the longer, bushier beard he sported was a stylistic choice for Nish, not a personal one. This led the user to speculate that he is still filming scenes.
Another user, Moreghostthanperson, theorized, “He asked Suki to visit him in prison, and she didn’t decline the request. I’d expect there will be several prison visit scenes to come.”
Nish is certainly the kind of character viewers love to hate, making him the perfect villain. Let’s hope this isn’t the end of his story!
