Since learning that his partner Wendy Posner was having a passionate affair behind his back with the local doctor Liam Cavanagh, Emmerdale’s Bob Hope has been having trouble.

When Tony Audenshaw’s character Bob Hope learned that Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) had been having an affair with Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) for several months, Wendy asked Bob for his forgiveness.

She described how their relationship began after she and Liam worked together on a murder-mystery narrative.

Bob admitted he almost had an affair with Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), his business colleague, but refrained because he didn’t want to be unfaithful.

Tony, who plays Bob, has now spoken out about his character’s bleak future following the controversy.

“It’s interesting with this relationship – it’s the first time you’ve seen a woman cheat on Bob,” he said to Digital Spy.

“Over the years, it has mostly been the other way around. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how it affects him.

He continued, “I have to admit that working with Cooky [Susan Cookson] has been simply amazing. It has been happy.

“So it was a bit of a shock to hear that [Wendy] was going to be unfaithful when we’d only just gotten together!”

When Bob found out about Wendy’s affair, he was incensed, but he initially sought to mend their relationship.

He may not be able to forgive the Emmerdale nurse who works with Liam since he is finding it difficult to forget what she did.

Could Wendy’s error cause Bob to abandon their relationship and leave Emmerdale?

After the actor claimed that the characters have “chemistry,” perhaps Bob would approach Bernice in subsequent scenes.

Fans of Emmerdale will remember that after a few drinks, the couple almost kissed, but nothing came of it.

Will Bob ultimately cheat on Wendy in an effort to exact revenge for her deceit?
