Since 2014, actress Amelia Flanagan of Emmerdale has portrayed April Windsor.
After April Windsor star Amelia Flanagan “said yes” to her prom dress this past weekend, many Emmerdale fans are starting to feel their age. April, the six-year-old daughter of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and the late Donna Windsor (Verity Rushworth), first appeared on television in 2014.
Amelia has received a lot of recognition for her work over the years. In 2015, she won Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards and three straight Insider Soap Awards for Best Young Actor. Because both her brother and sister are soap opera stars, the young star comes from a very talented family.
In Coronation Street, 13-year-old Isabella Flanagan plays Hope Stape, and her twin brother William plays Joseph Brown, her on-screen cousin.
The “Flanagan family” Instagram account, which is managed by their parents Rachel and Chris, features frequent updates about the Leeds-based family and their most recent travels outside of soap operas.
A recent update from the account on Sunday featured Amelia posing with a “I Said Yes” sign in a dress shop.
“Today we went to pick @ameliaflanagan08 a beautiful prom dress from @houseofrosebespoke,” the caption read. I’m really grateful to @helenbowensomething_.
One of the first comments from fans was, “OMG, can’t believe she’s that age already! I bet your parents feel the same way! xx.” (sic)
One more person said, “Well, I feel old.” She’s only seven, right?
A third person said, “Wow, I have my prom this year too! eager to see her outfit.”
“Excellent,” a fourth person exclaimed, while another continued, “A lovely young woman.”
Over the years, Amelia has been at the center of several significant plots, ranging from bullying to her father’s concerning medical diagnosis.
In more recent scenes, Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) died as a result of some trouble that April’s friends got into.
April declined to get inside the vehicle, causing it to crash and killing Heath.
Everyone initially thought Gabrielle Dowling’s character, Cathy Hope, was the driver of the vehicle that killed her brother.
At first, Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) had let her friend get away with it, but when it became too much for her, she came clean.
