Some fans have only recently learned the true name of the ITV soap opera legend Claire King, who has been a mainstay in the Dales since 1989.
Soap fans are just now realizing that Emmerdale legend Claire King, best known for playing Kim Tate, has a completely different real name.
The 62-year-old actress, who first appeared on screens in the 80s, made her debut on the ITV soap in 1989 and quickly became one of its most iconic figures.
After leaving the show in 1999 to explore other opportunities, she made a triumphant comeback 20 years later. Throughout the years, her character has been at the center of some of the soap’s biggest storylines, from scandalous affairs to faking her own death.
Recently, Kim has been locked in a bitter feud with her unfaithful ex-husband Will Taylor (Dean Andrews), who cheated on her with his former wife, Rose Jackson (Christine Tremarco).
However, recent episodes hint at a possible reconciliation between the two, especially after the death of Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell).
Off-screen, fans have been shocked to discover that Claire King was actually born Jayne Claire Seed.
Emmerdale viewers were stunned when a fan revealed on a Facebook fan page that the soap star’s real name is Jayne Seed.
The revelation sparked a wave of reactions, with one fan commenting, “I was today years old when I found out Claire King’s real name is Jayne Seed,” while another wrote, “No way, my mind is actually blown,” according to Leeds Live.
Another fan added, “She doesn’t look like a Jayne.”
This revelation comes as Claire King, famed for her role in Emmerdale, marks 38 eventful years since her first appearance in the Dales.
Beyond her iconic role in Emmerdale, Claire’s impressive acting career spans other major soaps. She portrayed Andrea Mason QC in Hollyoaks from 2005 to 2012 and played Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street between 2014 and 2017.
