As a self-proclaimed soap enthusiast, there’s nothing more thrilling for me than seeing one of my favorite shows flourishing.
Even during less strong periods, I appreciate the hard work soap teams put in, often filming around 10 scenes daily and six episodes weekly.
Right now, Emmerdale is packed with energy, variety, and action, making every episode feel essential.
A year ago, despite some memorable storylines like Marlon’s stroke and Paddy’s battle with depression, the show experienced a bit of a slump. Since then, though, it’s come a long way.
I’m enjoying it more than ever at the moment, eagerly looking forward to each episode and diving into the plot twists to prepare for previews.
Although some may feel that Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) ordeal with Tom King (James Chase) has been drawn out, I genuinely think Emmerdale is justified in allowing this storyline the time it needs.

In real life, these situations often take years to unfold, and they’re hard to both escape from and legally resolve. Sadly, they’re far too common, with many people enduring them quietly.
While I might have avoided more dramatic elements, like Tom wandering around with an axe wound (though it was shocking!), the storyline has been powerful overall.
Eden’s performance has been outstanding, meeting and even surpassing her previous portrayals dealing with mental health issues. James has brought a menacing edge to his role as Tom, which can’t have been easy to pull off.
And let’s not forget Piper the dog! Minnie, the pooch behind Piper, might just be my favorite soap pet ever.
Although this storyline has been central, Emmerdale hasn’t sidelined other characters.

I’ve been hoping for Kim Tate (Claire King) to regain her former fierceness after a stretch of being unusually mild-mannered.
This role is where Claire shines, and I know she relishes it just as much as fans like myself do.
Bringing some camp drama back to Home Farm has been a treat, and without giving anything away, I can promise it’s only going to get more intense.
Natalie J Robb, one of television’s finest talents, has been given a powerful storyline with the brain tumor diagnosis, allowing her to bring depth and subtlety to her role.
Her scenes with Jeff Hordley as Cain have been heart-wrenching, as they portray Cain and Moira dealing with the fear of her not surviving.

The show has also welcomed back talented actors like Michael Parr as Ross Barton and Danny Miller as Aaron Dingle, both with plenty of upcoming material.
Ross has returned to his roguish ways, still haunted by his struggles, and I’m very curious to see what unfolds with Charity (Emma Atkins).
John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is another intriguing character; his interactions with Aaron and his mysterious past are full of potential.
Paula Lane, playing Ella Forster, has been a revelation too. She shined as Kylie Platt in Coronation Street, but portraying a former child killer must have been a challenging role to take on.
Even though the truth is out, Ella retains a certain intensity that feels like it’s waiting to be explored further. And once she discovers Liam’s (Jonny McPherson) attraction to Chas (Lucy Pargeter), I think we’ll see more of her complexity.

One of my favorite new additions to the soap world is Beth Cordingly as Ruby Fox-Milligan. Ruby’s chaotic, sometimes harsh, yet vulnerable and haunted character feels like a classic soap heroine in the making.
Emmerdale has also kept things fresh with special episodes, including Belle and Tom’s dinner party and an installment exploring alternate endings to her story. There’s more of this creative storytelling to come—I’ve previewed an upcoming episode that’s unique, engaging, and full of twists.
With a mix of high drama, action, heartfelt themes, and humor, Emmerdale is truly leading the way.
The tribute episodes for Zak Dingle were incredibly touching and would have made Steve Halliwell proud. The Dingles’ episode highlighted their diverse personalities and family unity.
It’s truly an exciting time to be an Emmerdale fan, and working with these storylines continues to be a thrill for me.
I’m optimistic about the future, and ITV’s embrace of a digital-driven model is a wise move that will ensure these beloved shows thrive for years to come.
I have a glimpse of what’s in store, and I’m eager to see fans’ reactions—I expect they’ll share my enthusiasm. Here’s to Emmerdale’s newest golden era!
