Ross Barton (Michael Parr) made a strong impression upon his return to Emmerdale, immediately rubbing Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) the wrong way by asserting he’s here to stay.

In a thrilling comeback on Monday (October 28), Ross was revealed as Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) secret opponent in a high-stakes bareknuckle fight. The tension continued on Tuesday (October 29), as the fight escalated, with Ross – known for his fighting skills – initially taking the lead while Mack and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) watched in worry for Billy.

Mackenzie’s attention, however, shifted to Moses, who was on the sidelines, cheering for his dad. Concerned that a young child was witnessing the violence, Mack quickly took Moses out of the situation.

This distraction threw Ross off his game, allowing Billy to seize the moment and knock Ross out, leading to Ross’s defeat. Though Billy was thrilled with the win, Jade (Twinnie-Lee Moore) was less pleased, realizing Ross’s loss would cost her financially.

Meanwhile, Mack reported Ross’s carelessness to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), who was furious and confronted Ross at Jacob’s Fold. But instead of addressing the issue, Ross antagonized Mack, sparking a heated confrontation.

A tense face-off followed, to Charity’s dismay, as Ross taunted Mack about Rueben, accusing him of merely “playing dad” with Moses. Charity took Mack’s side, questioning Ross’s parenting judgment. The argument escalated, with Ross punching Mack and pinning him over the sofa, leaving Charity outraged as she ordered Ross to leave her home.

Afterward, Mack and Charity discussed the unsettling return of Ross, who was stirring trouble in their relationship. A remark from Charity about Moses being her son wounded Mack, who left for the Woolpack, where another clash with Ross awaited. Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) intervened, calling out the pair on their toxic behavior.

The feud continued outside Jacob’s Fold, where Ross attacked Mack’s character, using cruel words to belittle him as “not a real man.” Mack stayed calm, stating that no one wanted Ross around, but Ross only seemed more amused, warning Mack that he’s about to “throw a grenade” into his seemingly perfect life.

The rivalry has undoubtedly flared up – but who will emerge victorious?
