Emmerdale will air emotional scenes next week as well as classic soap drama and some big twists.

The Dingles will be left in turmoil as news from a loved one confirms the devastating passing of matriarch and soap legend Zak Dingle. Actor Steve Halliwell, who played the fan favourite for decades, passed away last December.

Next week, the village gathers to remember Zak as his family bids their final farewell. However, a shocking character return is on the horizon—but who could it be?

Meanwhile, Will Taylor begins plotting his revenge against Kim Tate with Caleb Miligan’s assistance. But Caleb faces troubles at home as his wife, Ruby Miligan, is on the verge of uncovering a major secret. Here are the biggest moments coming up in the village next week…

Zak Dingle dies

It’s time for the soap to say a sad goodbye to ITV soap legend Zak Dingle, who passes away after illness. In a recent episode Cain Dingle went to visit his dad in Scotland after he was under the weather.

But sadly Debbie Dingle is left confirming the news that Zak has passed away next week, with spoilers detailing the emotional scenes ahead. Debbie makes contact and phones her dad Cain only for Moira to answer the call.

Moira is then faced with the heartbreaking task of delivering the tragic news to Cain about his beloved father, Zak, whom he had just left in Scotland. Cain is soon left with the difficult responsibility of informing his devastated family, including his siblings Belle and Sam Dingle, about Zak’s passing.

As the sad news spreads throughout the village, the family comes together for support, leaving everyone in deep sorrow. Cain and Sam find Belle outside, and the three reminisce about their father, reflecting on what’s already been a tough year for them.

The Dingles find solace in each other’s company, and Sam and Cain decide to travel to Scotland to bring their father back home. Villagers gather on Main Street to send off Sam and Cain, and later in the week, Zak’s funeral takes place.

Shock return

It’s been revealed the Dingles are left “shocked” by whoever it is that returns next week. They are linked to the family and turn up after Zak’s death.

Amid viewers speculating it could be Eli Dingle, Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley has dropped some hints. As other cast members shared their shock about who was coming back, revealing it’s someone we’ve met before, Jeff teased it could even be someone coming back from the dead.

He spilled: “It’s someone you might know. They’re not going to make things go smoothly for the Dingles. Could it be someone back from the dead?”

Revenge twist

Next week, Will Taylor intensifies his plan to ruin his wife, Kim Tate, after she ended their relationship following his infidelity. Since their breakup, they’ve been locked in a bitter battle, with Kim refusing to give him a single penny while seemingly moving on with her life.

Fueled by a desire for revenge, Will has joined forces with Kim’s adversary, Caleb Miligan. Meanwhile, as Kim grapples with her conflicting emotions about her unfaithful ex, she remains oblivious to the fact that she is being manipulated during her time of grief for her old friend Zak.

Will has told Caleb he wants to bring Kim down, and he wants them to do it sooner rather than later. With the pair vowing to get payback, how far will they go?

Caleb rumbled

Next week, Ruby Miligan is left stunned as her search for answers about what her dying mother, Helen Fox, wanted to share with her before her passing leads to a shocking revelation. She discovers that her husband, Caleb, met with her mother before she died and kept this information from her, denying Ruby the opportunity to say goodbye.

Ruby confronts her husband, so is it all over for the pair? It’s not clear if she finds out he also blackmailed Helen for £100k on her deathbed, so might Caleb be set for a comeuppance?
