Two iconic characters from EastEnders are poised to vie for the affection of the same man as a love triangle begins to unfold.
Next week, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) is overwhelmed with guilt after contacting social services, and a poorly timed remark from Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) at the café sends her rushing home.
As viewers may recall, Jean alerted social services after learning that Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) had been physically abusing Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).
Despite Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) urging her to stay silent about the report, Jean’s guilt intensifies when she witnesses a tense encounter between Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), Kat, and Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) in the Square.
Alfie reassures Jean that she made the right decision, but things take a turn for the worse when Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) tries to dig for more gossip, causing Jean to unintentionally offend Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho).
After a rough day, Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) is eager to lift Jean’s spirits and plans to prepare a lovely dinner for her, following Kathy’s suggestion. However, Jean opts to dine with Kojo instead to apologize for her earlier misstep.
While waiting for Jean to return home, Harvey ultimately decides to visit Kathy. The following day, Stacey persuades Harvey to be more lenient with Jean, leading to their reconciliation after Jean makes a thoughtful gesture.
Their tender moment is soon disrupted when Kojo arrives bearing a gift for Jean, prompting Harvey to use the interruption as a chance to check in on Kathy.
Is Harvey’s attention drifting, or is he still devoted to Jean?
