Plans are questioned, retaliation is presumed, and power must be retained, according to General Hospital spoilers and updates for Monday, August 14. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) asserts that control must be maintained while Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) asks what the plan is. Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) speculates that payback is desired.

General Hospital Spoilers: Plans Questioned

Dex appears to be receiving a new assignment from Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), who asks what the strategy is.

He had been pursuing Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth), which is how he came across Gordon Stevens’s (Maurice Hall) corpse.

After conducting further research on Stevens, Brick (Stephen A. Smith) discovered that he was connected to a trucking firm that had previously belonged to the Gatlin family.

Driver Mason Gatlin (Nathaniel Gray) and receptionist Betty Rutherford (Ella Lentini) worked together. Sonny might want Dex to follow Betty right now to ensure the safety of Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola).

GH Spoilers: Payback Assumed

After her home has been set on fire, Anna approaches Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) outside and informs him that someone wants her to pay for what she has done.

It appears that either Anna left her door open or the arsonist had a key because the arsonist waited and watched until she left the house before setting fire to it.

More than a play for vengeance, this sounds more like a mobster “leaving a message”—clearly, they want her to pay but not to perish?

Given that real bullets were used in the shots that were fired at the Metro Court, that doesn’t make much sense.

General Hospital Spoilers: No Distance Between Family

Mason, who has just been stitched up, converses with Austin in the hospital’s office.

Since selling his properties and possibly his medical practice in Pautauk and relocating to Port Charles, Austin has wanted to leave this so-called family business.

Mason has been attempting to coerce him into returning, citing the anxiety that a female “head of the family” was experiencing.

But more recently, it seems that because Mason is there, the “boss” might be nearby or even in Port Charles. Mason asks Austin why on earth he would ever let him go while giving him a direct look in the eye.

GH Spoilers: Frustration

Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), who plays Ned Quartermaine aka Eddie Maine (Wally Kurth), is seen acting impatiently in another scene.

She is questioned by Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) about whether she will give up on Ned. Nobody could blame her because she wants Ned, not his alter ego Eddie, and it appears that Ned won’t be returning.

Even though he may have been protecting her from the creepy Mason, she doesn’t want to see him start any more fights in bars.

General Hospital Spoilers: Flirting Eddie Maine Strikes Again?

He had been flirting with Carly at the bar prior to the fight breaking out in the Highsiders’ Bar that led Eddie, Carly, and Olivia to the PCPD.

He now appears somewhere and claims to want to see someone, but who is this someone? Is he again flirting with Carly, a man or a woman?

He might appear and stop Olivia and Dante in their tracks. Olivia might be about to give a hard pass because she wants Ned instead of Eddie.

GH Spoilers: Power Must Be Retained

After Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) evidently discovered that her mother needed to be signed out of the police station, Carly is finally home in her kitchen.

As Carly passionately explains, if Sonny loses his power, they are no longer safe. It appears that Josslyn is blaming Sonny and his connections to organized crime for the mess.

This is actually very true because if Sonny loses his position, other rival mob families will either move into Port Charles or take it over from him.

In other words, a mob conflict similar to the one that occurred when Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) first arrived in Port Charles will occur. That can’t be what Josslyn wants, can it?

General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny Corinthos Lays A Trap

There is also a rather ominous Sonny sets a trap for Mason or Betty by telling someone that the original plans have changed. Dex might be the subject of their conversation as he gives him his new task.

It appears that Sonny will be giving Dex his first real enforcer assignment, which may involve killing someone.

Alternatively, he might simply be working to set up a trap for the intended victim, who is probably Mason or perhaps Betty. He assured Ava Jerome (Maura West) that Betty and Avery would be safe because he had his men tailing them.
