Next week on Home and Away in the UK, in the aftermath of the explosion, Roo’s deteriorating condition sees her leave Summer Bay, while John faces a terrifying experience.

Two beloved neighbors will be fighting for their lives next week as Stunning Organics’ terror campaign against Marilyn (Emily Symons) reached a terrible conclusion.

After weeks of threats against Marilyn for publicly criticizing the company, a man assumed to be the inexplicably absent CEO delivered Marilyn one final package through the mail: a bomb.

Inadvertently passing the lethal package from resident to resident throughout the course of the week, John (Shane Withington) and Roo (Georgie Parker) found themselves in the firing line when the device was activated with an hour countdown.

After Marilyn received a final note mocking her about the contents of the box, Mali (Kyle Shilling) was left to track down John and Roo with the box piled into the back of a rental vehicle as they went to the neighborhood dump.

Mali yelled at John and Roo to get out of the van after successfully persuading them to stop, just as the van exploded in a tremendous fireball, sending Mali flying.

As we return to the immediate aftermath next week, Mali is out cold on the road as the inferno rages.

Mali eventually awakens with a deafening ringing in his ears and rushes to see how John and Roo are doing. Thankfully, both were able to quickly exit the van, but they were both injured by the explosion.

Roo is visible in severe pain as she rests on her back on the grass nearby, afraid to move a muscle.

Mali turns around the opposite side of the van and spots a confused John slumped on the pavement. He immediately calls 911.

The blaze has been put out by the time Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) and Rose (Kirsty Marillier) appear on the scene, shocked at the carnage in front of them.

John is being treated by paramedic Carla (Jennifer Rani) for a pain in his abdomen, but he’s more concerned that they look after Roo who is already being loaded into an ambulance.

While Jennifer Rani’s character, paramedic Carla, is tending to John’s abdominal pain, Roo is already being placed into an ambulance, and John is more concerned about Roo’s welfare.

The site is turned over to forensics investigator Frances (Ebony Nave), who quickly discovers what appears to be a detonator.

Frances informs Cash that the device was plainly manufactured, and whomever designed it intended to cause maximum damage…

Mali, who has been experiencing dizzy spells since the blast, finds that he has a perforated eardrum after all three sufferers are brought to Northern Districts Hospital.

While nothing catastrophic has happened, Bree (Juliet Godwin) advises that Mali will have to stay out of the water for several weeks… which will be a challenge for Summer Bay’s local surf instructor!

Marilyn and Irene (Lynne McGranger) arrive to the hospital, relieved to see John, Marilyn feeling guilty because it should have been her.

Marilyn, who is struggling with her guilt, is doing her best to assist Roo when she suddenly begins to worsen. As Roo begins to shake and ask for her father, Nurse Jamie (Jazz Laker) hurries to help as the machines malfunction.

When Bree responds to the 911 call, she discovers that Roo’s blood pressure has dropped and she has developed bradycardia.

Roo is definitely in shock, and her heart is fighting to pump blood throughout her body. Roo quickly passes out before falling into cardiac arrest!

Bree eventually stabilizes Roo, but she remains comatose, with Bree revealing to a heartbroken Marilyn that Roo is breathing for her via a ventilator. She needs to be taken to the city right once for surgery, and as Marilyn bids her friend a sorrowful farewell, she promises to obtain justice.

Georgie Parker takes a brief break from filming for this episode after appearing in a Sydney stage show earlier this year.

Meanwhile, John appears to be out of the woods, having undergone surgery for abdominal internal bleeding.

Later that week, Irene pays a visit to John in the hospital when he complains of feeling dizzy. Irene is confident that everything is normal after surgery, but Bree is called just to be careful.

As John thanks Irene for staying with him, he drops back onto the bed, clutching his chest in agony.

Thankfully, Bree comes just as a terrified John asks whether he’s having a heart attack. It wouldn’t be the first time, since John experienced one in 2010.

Bree disagrees, but with a heart rate of 200bpm, John is seriously tachycardic. She explains that she will need to administer medication to John in order to re-calibrate his heart and restore it to normal rhythm.

Bree informs John that the medicine is extremely potent and will cause him to feel as if his heart is stopped, but at the time, John is willing to accept any treatment available.

Irene takes John’s hand while Bree administers the medicine, and the consequences are instantly seen as John shouts out in terror.

Although not identified in the episode, the medicine is most likely Adenosine, which blocks the AV node, causing the heart to halt for a brief period of time. Bree is not exaggerating when she claims the experience is severe, with the most common adverse effect among patients being a sense of impending dread, or the impression that death is approaching.

It’s a tense few moments while John writhes in pain and Bree keeps an eye on the ECG. Bree understands she has to wait it out as John collapses.

As the seconds tick by, a traumatised Irene cries out John’s name, and there’s a flicker of trepidation that falls across Bree’s face.

Will John pull through?!
