Inside Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s wild marriage amid split: Home & Away star once revealed she slept with comic while he was dressed as BORAT and insisted it was ‘love at first sight’
At a party in Isla’s home Australia in 2002, the couple first connected.
Later on, Isla would compare meeting Sacha to “winning the lottery” when speaking with Marie Claire. They were bonded by “a shared sense of humor and a willingness to get married,” according to her.
In October 2020, Cohen stated to The New York Times, “I knew instantly.” I have no idea if she did. She hasn’t known for almost 20 years.
In 2004, only two years later, the couple were engaged.
Olivia was the couple’s first child, born on October 17, 2007.
In addition, they welcomed Montgomery, their first son, on March 17, 2015, and Elula, their second daughter, in the summer of 2010.
Elula is thirteen, Montgomery is nine, and Olive is sixteen now.
In March 2010, the pair exchanged vows in a discreet ceremony in Paris.
Before getting married, Isla disclosed that she had converted to Judaism in order to honor her then-fiance.
“I will undoubtedly marry a Jew just to be with Sacha.” She told the Evening Standard, “I would move into any religion—I would do anything to be united in marriage with him.”
Despite the couple’s pride in their seclusion, Isla disclosed some dirty bedroom secrets about them in 2016 when she appeared on James Corden’s The Late Late Show.
Has Sacha, your spouse, ever acted out in bed? If yes, which one? Ewan McGregor, a fellow visitor, asked her a cheeky question.
The former soap opera star laughed heartily and confessed that they had shared a passionate kiss when he was disguised as Borat. “He’s had Bruno’s blonde hair and he’s been Borat, or he’s had a handlebar moustache,” she went on.
“Sacha has a strong visual presence, but I’ve never heard [Borat’s catchphrase] “woo woo wee woo,”” the woman continued. After starring as a Kazakhstani journalist learning about American society in the satirical mockumentary Borat in 2006, Cohen became internationally famous.
The star of Confessions of a Shopaholic, who moved to America early in her career, talked about the family’s decision to return to Australia after acknowledging that it wasn’t simple to “juggle” a family in Los Angeles.
It’s not very common to bring your children to dinner parties or restaurants after 6 o’clock in the evening. It’s easier to put your kids to bed and have a wine with friends, so that’s why I usually entertain at home because I want to spend time with my family, she added.
In 2020, Isla and Sacha moved to Sydney with their kids, and subsequently they moved to Western Australia.
In a strange photo that they shared on Friday, the couple revealed that they had secretly split up last year while posing in tennis attire. “We are finally putting down our racquets after a long tennis match lasting over 20 years,” their statement said.
We mutually filed to dissolve our marriage in 2023. We have always placed a high value on our privacy and have been gradually implementing this shift in a peaceful manner. “We will always share in our devotion and love for our children.” We are so grateful that you honored our family’s need for privacy.
Before divorcing in 2023, Sacha, 52, and Isla, 48, were wed for 14 years.
The couple’s marriage looked stronger than ever in July 2023 when they traveled to Greece, as Isla shared a photo of herself giving her husband a passionate kiss.
The declaration follows shocking revelations made by Rebel Wilson in her new memoir, Rebel Rising, regarding her encounter with “a**hole” comedian Sacha.
In the 2016 comedy The Brothers Grimsby, Rebel portrayed Sacha, the star of Borat, as her on-screen girlfriend. Rebel then made a number of accusations regarding her uncomfortable experience while filming.
She said that despite her “no nudity” policy, Sacha would ask her to undress for certain moments on the Louis Leterrier-directed movie set. Sacha has vehemently disputed these accusations and claims the evidence refutes them.
She surprisingly claimed that Sacha asked her to “stick her finger up his a**” because he believed it would make a humorous scene in the movie, according to a memoir excerpt that People Magazine was able to obtain. She also claimed that “it felt like [he] had sexually harassed me.”
According to her, she felt “completely disrespected,” so she decided to treat herself even worse by overindulging in bad food.
Sacha has adamantly denied ever abusing Rebel or forcing her to go nude in the movie.
Speaking out is important, but these claims are directly contradicted by a wealth of detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from people who were present before, during, and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby, according to a Sacha representative.
